Permanent Fix for Rock Candy Xbox One Controllers after re-connecting the controller

Years ago, I bought a PDP Rock Candy Xbox One Controller to use for my computer, I let my brother use it for his Windows 11 computer, but it doesn't turn on when connected to it (the controller registers as an Xbox Gaming Device under "Xbox Peripherals" inside the Device Manager, but the light NEVER comes on). It does however work when turning on the computer or even when restarting it. Is there like a certain driver that can keep it on regardless of connect/disconnect/reconnect, and even restarts?

    Thanks for the response.

In device manager, Click "Let me pick from a list" and choose HID-compliant game controller.

Also, PDP makes Rock Candy controllers, their PDP Control Hub software might help:

1: Download the PDP Control Hub from the Microsoft Store.

    2: Connect the controller.

3: Open the PDP Hub and check for firmware updates.

4: If an update is available, install it and restart your PC.

Please check and let me know how it goes!

I don't have it for the Rock Candy Xbox One Controller. I've checked the list of devices for it, and it's all "Xbox One". My other controllers have NO problem being connected to a powered USB hub (powered by wall plug instead of relying on USB power only). I've tried USB 2.0 on my motherboard (still the same). What I need is a different driver that can work without having me to restart my computer every time for it.

    Thanks for the reply.

    1. If you're using USB 3.0 , try a USB 2.0 port instead.
    2. Some controllers work better in front panel vs. rear panel USB.
    3. Avoid USB hubs, use direct motherboard ports.

Try the Xbox 360 Driver Workaround :

Some users have had success forcing the Xbox 360 controller driver instead of the Xbox One driver.

    1. Open Device Manager > Xbox Peripherals.
    2. Right-click Xbox Gaming Device > Update Driver.
    3. Choose Browse my computer for drivers.
    4. Click Let me pick from a list.
    5. If available, select Microsoft Xbox 360 Controller driver
    6. Click Next and restart.

If this works, it means Windows is struggling with the Rock Candy Xbox One driver.

Please let me know how it goes!

I've done tried that. It's still the same when I disconnect and reconnect my Rock Candy Xbox Controller. It only lights up and stays lighted up when my computer is restarted and fully booted up, but it does NOT light back up when I reconnect the controller. I checked for an update for the Rock Candy Xbox One controller and there was no update.

This is screencapped from my Device Manager on Windows 11. It does detect the controller in my device manager, but never comes on.

    Hello ,

I’m here to help you in resolving your issue

Windows may be turning off the USB port to save power, preventing the controller from powering back on properly.

    1. Open Device Manager (Win + X > Device Manager).
    2. Expand Universal Serial Bus controllers.
    3. Right-click on USB Root Hub (there may be multiple) and select Properties.
    4. Go to the Power Management tab and uncheck “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power”.
    5. Click OK and repeat for all USB Root Hubs.
    6. Restart your PC and check if the issue resolves.
