Arzopa Portable Monitor Not Working via USB-C – "Device Descriptor Request Failed"

Hello,

I recently purchased an Arzopa portable monitor, but I’m facing issues when trying to connect it to my Acer Predator Helios 300 (PH315-53) running Windows 11.

Issue:

When I plug the monitor into my laptop using a USB-C to USB-C cable with HDMI(lapop) to mini-HDMI(monitor), it briefly powers on, then goes black and displays "No Signal". In Device Manager, I see an error:

🔴 Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)

However, when I connect the same monitor to another laptop, it works perfectly without any errors.

Current Setup & Tests I’ve Done:

✅ The monitor works with HDMI + USB-C for power.
✅ The monitor works with my phone (USB-C to USB-C).
✅ Tried different USB-C, USB-A cables and ports on my laptop.
Disabled USB Power Management in Windows.
✅ Checked if my USB-C port supports DisplayPort Alt Mode (100% sure).
Updated the graphics drivers.

Questions:

  1. Could this be a driver-related issue?
  2. Are there additional Windows settings I should check to enable USB-C display output?
  3. Would a clean installation of Windows help in this case, or is this more likely a hardware limitation?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

    Hello ,

I’m here to help you in resolving your issue

Your issue seems to be a USB-C compatibility problem with DisplayPort Alt Mode or power delivery, rather than a direct hardware failure.

Even though you mentioned being 100% sure your Acer Predator Helios 300 supports DisplayPort Alt Mode, some models have USB-C ports that only support data transfer and power (not video). To verify:

1: Check the Acer manual or official website for your specific model (PH315-53).

2: Look for a DisplayPort (DP) or Thunderbolt symbol next to the USB-C port.

3: If your laptop has multiple USB-C ports, try a different one.

If your laptop does NOT natively support DisplayPort Alt Mode, try an Active USB-C to HDMI Adapter instead.

Force Windows to Re-detect the Monitor

1: Open Device Manager (Win + X > Device Manager).

2: Find Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed).

3: Right-click > Uninstall device > Check Delete the driver software for this device > Click Uninstall.

4: Restart your laptop and reconnect the monitor.
