I am guessing that the printer is connected correctly and the drivers for print and scan is installed.

To scan a picture in the computer, first you need to put the paper on the flatbed that you want to scan then you can choose the printer app that is installed in the computer or you can go to the start menu>>paint>>click on file at the top left>>select import to canvas>>select from scanner or camera>>choose your printer and follow the options.
