    Hello LAXMI PRASANNA

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community.

If you're unable to activate your microphone on a Windows PC while using Google Meet and it shows that no microphone is added even after following the steps, here are some detailed troubleshooting steps you can try:

    1. Check Microphone Hardware and Connections

    • Ensure that your microphone is properly connected to your PC, whether it's a built - in microphone or an external one.
    • If it's an external microphone, try plugging it into another USB port if possible.

    2. Verify Microphone in Device Manager

    • Right - click the Start menu and select "Device Manager".
    • Expand the "Audio inputs and outputs" section to check if your microphone is listed and functioning properly.
    • If there's a yellow exclamation mark or a red cross, it indicates a driver issue or a disabled device. Try updating or reinstalling the driver.
    • Also, you can check the microphone enhancement feature. Right - click on your microphone in the Device Manager, select "Properties", and look for an "Enhancements" tab. Here you can enable or adjust any available enhancement settings according to your needs.

    3. Check Microphone Privacy Settings

    • Click the Start menu, then select "Settings".
    • Go to "Privacy" and then "Microphone".
    • Ensure that the "Allow apps to access your microphone" option is turned on.
    • Scroll down and check if Google Meet or your browser (e.g., Chrome) is listed and allowed to access the microphone.

    4. Configure Microphone in Sound Settings

    • Right - click the volume icon in the taskbar and select "Sounds".
    • Go to the "Recording" tab.
    • If your microphone is not listed, right - click and select "Show Disabled Devices", then enable your microphone.
    • Double - click your microphone, go to the "Levels" tab, and ensure the volume is set to an appropriate level.

    5. Check in Google Meet for Microphone Permissions

    • In the Google Meet interface, look for the microphone icon. Click on it and check if there are any settings related to microphone access or if it shows any error messages regarding the microphone not being available.

    6. Check Browser Permissions

    • Ensure that your browser (e.g., Google Chrome) has permission to access the microphone.
    • In Chrome, you can check this by clicking the three - dot menu, selecting "Settings", then "Privacy and Security", and finally "Site Settings". Under "Permissions", check that "Microphone" is set to "Allowed".

    7. Check for Browser Extensions Affecting the Microphone

    • If you have browser extensions installed in your Chrome browser, some of them might interfere with the microphone access. Try disabling the extensions one by one and then check if the microphone works in Google Meet. You can access the extensions by clicking on the three - dot menu in Chrome and selecting "More tools" and then "Extensions".

    8. Check Microphone Permissions in Windows Security Center (Windows 10 and Windows 11)

    • Open the Windows Security app. You can find it in the Start menu.
    • Click on "App & browser control" in the left - hand menu.
    • Scroll down to "Microphone" and ensure the appropriate access settings are enabled for your applications.

    9. Test the Microphone

    • Use the built - in "Voice Recorder" app or any other audio recording software to test if your microphone is working properly.
    • Speak into the microphone and check if the recording captures your voice.

    10. Update Windows and Drivers

    • Ensure that your Windows operating system and all drivers are up to date.
    • Go to "Settings", "Update & Security", and then "Windows Update" to check for updates.

    11. Restart Your PC

    • Sometimes, simply restarting your PC can resolve hardware and software issues.

    12. Check for Application Conflicts

    • Ensure that no other applications are using the microphone at the same time.
    • Close any unnecessary applications, especially those that might use audio input.

    13. Reinstall or Update Google Meet/Browser

    • Ensure that you're using the latest version of Google Meet and your browser.
    • Try reinstalling the browser or updating it to the latest version.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, it's possible that there might be a hardware failure or a more complex software issue. In such cases, you might need to contact technical support or consider using a different microphone or audio input device for your meeting.
