Quick Way to Workaround System Tray Icons Hiding Themselves

In recent versions of Windows, some of the icons in the tray hide themselves and there is no way to stop this from happening, as there used to be. All of the published fixes I have seen do not resolve the issue.

While there doesn't seem to be a way to override this behavior, I discovered by accident the other day that all you have to do to get the missing icons back is to click the overflow arrow, then drag the icon down. It is the same as going into the settings and sliding the "OFF" to "ON" - but much quicker.

This doesn't resolve the issue, and you included my solution as one of yours.

    1. Refresh the Explorer Process: - This doesn't fix this known issue
      • Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open the Task Manager.
      • Find and select explorer.exe in the Details tab.
      • Click "End Task."
      • Then, go to "File" in the top-left corner of Task Manager, choose "Run New Task," type explorer.exe, and press Enter.
    2. Check Overflow Settings: - Thank you validating my workaround that was the main point of my post
      • Click the small upward arrow in the system tray to reveal hidden icons.
      • Drag your missing icons from the overflow tray into the visible tray area.
    3. Customize Tray Settings: - This doesn't fix the problem, it only fixes it until the next update of that app
      • Go to Settings > Personalization > Taskbar > Taskbar corner overflow.
      • Ensure that the icons you want are toggled to "On."
    4. Update Your System: This doesn't fix this known issue
      • Open the Start menu, type "Check for updates," and press Enter.
      • Install any available updates, as these often address UI bugs.
