Laptop is not detecting a second monitor

Using Asus ROG zephyrus g14, windows 11, used amd app to update my graphics card drivers and no windows updates. The monitor I am trying to connect to works with the PC it was previously connected to so there is no issue with the cable, and it seems to recognise that something has connected to the monitor but my laptop does not as when I press detect monitor on display settings it says 'we didn't find another display' I have tried turning my PC off and on again as before doing that even the monitor did not recognise the connection but now its only an issue on the laptop side.

    Hello,

Please push Windows key + P on your keyboard and then try selecting "Duplicate" or "Extended" and see if that does anything. Windows sometimes forgets that it's connected to the monitor and requires manual intervention :)

Let me know how this goes.

I have had the same issue, but my 2nd monitor seems to work if I have my laptop unplugged. I am thinking the laptop switches a setting when plugged in that disables the monitor and I havent figured out the setting yet. Have you tried your 2nd monitor with your laptop unplugged yet?
