I can't change my username properly. Is this a bug or...?

(Used English in hope for a faster response, sorry.)

I can't change my username properly in Windows 11. When I enter control panel and change username from there, it works and doesn't work simultaneously. When I enter C:/Users/, there's still my very first username in Cyrillic, which causes issues in a game. (Audio doesn't load because of the Cyrillic username... That's why I want to switch to English)

Ok, so username is in Russian, but when I enter the folder, in a search panel, my CHANGED/NEW (Eng) username appears. That's why I said it's both in Russian and English, seems to be corrupted??

I created a new user, and... it works fine? Everything works fine! But can't I just fix my current account?? Plus, I have to start from the scratch, and I don't want to download everything again.

The very last one is my current account. "Erm" is my new one. (Don't ask)

(TEMP stuff appeared when I changed "Компьютер\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList...ProfileImagePath")

I changed it back and everything's fine.

I'm not sure about anything else.

Hello, Thank you for posting this issue on community forum.

The username linked to your account's folder in C:/Users/ is the default folder name created when the account was initially set up. Unfortunately, it cannot be directly changed because it's a core system setting tied to that specific user profile.

While the display name can be updated in the Control Panel, the original folder name remains unchanged. This limitation is why you're experiencing the mismatch.

However you can create a new user and simply transfer all your data from your old user to your new user profile so that youe issue is resolved.

If you don't want to follow the above step, then you follow the below support article and try to reinstall the windows, this will help you to create a new user profile. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/reinstall-windows-with-the-installation-media-d8369486-3e33-7d9c-dccc-859e2b022fc7

    Appreciate your understanding and patience.
