Do any of you know the difference between a toolbar and the taskbar? Every answer I've read dealing with toolbar help, is given taskbar help, leaving toolbars completely out of the discussion. I need to resize the font on all my TOOLBARS! How do I do this? Thanks for any relevant and useful answers.

A toolbar is simply a menu - a series of commands - packed into a rectangle. Typically it extends horizontally across the top of an application.

A toolbar can be simple, like the one in Notepad ...

... or it can be complicated, like the one in Word 365 ...

(Technically, the toolbar is the part at the top: File, Home, Insert, Draw, etc. The bottom part is what Microsoft calls a ribbon. People hated it at first.)

The taskbar is a menu that extends across the bottom of your monitor when you use Windows ...

The main difference between a toolbar and the taskbar (some people capitalize the 'T') is that a toolbar has commands whereas the Taskbar has shortcuts to apps.

Unless an app offers a command to enlarge its toolbar font, there's no supported method to make the font (only) larger. And you shouldn't look for an unsupported method to do this, because (1) it's never a good idea to make unsupported changes to software - which is why I won't advise it - and (2) app developers build the app's user interface on the basis of the fonts they choose. If you try to change the font, the interface will look weird, at best, and you can break the app, at worst.

If you're having a hard time reading toolbars - welcome to the club - try Settings > Accessibility > Text size or Settings > Accessibility > Magnifier.

Thank you for this explanation. I'm a bit (pretty big bit) of a Luddite, and have a diffucult time with technical stuff. Social/political/legal stuff I understand better-as long as there's no eye/hand/brain connection. Thank you for pointing these things out to me. I really do appreciate it. When I'm a bit rested, (it's 2AM here,) I'll try your suggestion. Again, thank you, and your effort is not in vain. I understand things a bit better now.

My computer is completely up to date, and the menu fonts are unchanged. Moreover, I haven't (yet) read of an update causing the problem you describe. If I do, I'll certainly reply to this thread. Otherwise, I have to admit that I've never heard of such a problem before.

The font size on your examples above are what they were on my system yesterday, before the latest update Since the update, they're all about a 1/2 point font. That includes all the fonts in my file explorer, and the search bar. If they were the same font as the logos they describe, that would suffice. If the screen capture would include the entire visible screen, including, toolbar headings, I'd send a photo of that to illistrate what is concerning me. Something happened in that update to change these. Before the update, I had no trouble seeing them. I tried a restore, but, as usual, it didn't function. Whenever I set a restore point, it magically disappears when needed. Now, I can barely see them. Something in the update did this. How do I fix it so I don't strain my 75 y/o eyes any longer? Thank you for listening(?-sounds better than 'reading') to me.
