Hi, I'm John! I will help you with this.

The "Lock" button is actually a normal, built-in feature in Windows 10. But if something feels off about it, I’d be happy to take a closer look with you.

Could you share a screenshot of what you're seeing, just so I can make sure everything looks the way it should?

Also, when did you first notice it, was it after a recent update or any changes you made to your PC?

Click "Reply" below to let me know.

    Regards,

    John J.D.

Thank you for letting me know.

That's right, the “Lock” option is a legit part of Windows 10. To disable, you can try using Control Panel:

    > Press Windows key + R key to open Run dialog.

    > Copy and Paste this command and press Enter:

    control powercfg.cpl

    > Click Choose what the power buttons do on the left.

    > Click Change settings that are currently unavailable near the top.

    > Under Shutdown settings, if you see an option for Lock, go ahead and uncheck it.

    > Click Save changes.

Let me know if the Lock option appears there for you.

I really hope this information is helpful! :)

    John,

Thank you for the answer. The Power menu keeps closing when I try to get a screen shot. But

the "lock" button appeared after the last update. I looked up this feature and it appears to

be part of Windows 10. Mabey it is legit. I won't ever use it anyway because this is a home

computer. Can it be removed from the power menu because it won't be used?
