In File Explorer on W10 you had to options on the header bar to choose "Select All" "Move To" or "Copy To" when actioning files/folders etc. I cannot find anywhere in W11 that allows me to activate these commands. I have Googled to try and find answers with no result. I find have to use Control A to Select All and Drag and Drop to move files etc. very cumbersome and the long way around. Is there anyway I can action these commands in W11?

These steps should activate the classic mode in the upper ribbon of the windows explorer windows.

    Didn't that happen?

    Googled process, as follows:

To restore the classic File Explorer ribbon in Windows 11, you can use a Registry change or a third-party tool like SwitchExplorer. These methods effectively switch the default Explorer to the Windows 10 version, complete with the ribbon.

    Method 1: Using Registry Changes

    1. Open Registry Editor:

Type regedit in the Start Menu and select the application.

    1. Navigate to the Shell Extensions Key:

Navigate to the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Shell Extensions.

      3. Create a New Key:

Right-click on "Shell Extensions" and select "New" > "Key". Name this new key "Blocked".

      4. Add a String Value:

In the "Blocked" key, right-click and select "New" > "String Value". Name it "{E35B0F81-CDDE-4D5A-8E66-9217F81460BB}".

    5. Enter the Value Data:

Double-click the new string value and enter the following value data: "{E35B0F81-                               CDDE-4D5A-8E66-9217F81460BB}".

    6. Restart File Explorer:

Restart File Explorer by opening Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc), finding "Windows Explorer", and right-clicking to select "Restart".

Thanks for your reply, I didn’t share the steps, but, could you please let me know what you change in the registry, then I could say if this would result in some changes on the system

I did what you suggested and changed shell extension in registry. Did not show "classic" when I restarted PC. Would I need to activated the command in W11 or should it have changed the menu if the change worked?

Hi, I am Jeronimo, Thanks for reaching out! I'm an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft user like you.

In Windows 11, Microsoft redesigned File Explorer, removing the classic ribbon interface that included commands like “Select All,” “Move To,” and “Copy To.” These options are no longer readily available in the default interface. However, there are some unofficial ways to add this, but this require that you change some registry sections
