why is my laptop giving me a black screen?

i usually use my laptop for studying but i wanted to play roblox with my sister

i usually play and nothing happens but for some reason this time it just froze

i got so scared and clicked the power button and then when i tried opening it again it would give me that blue settup that says click esc to continue and stuff

and then it would just keep the fan running and givw me a black screen

after a few tried of getting it to open it sometimes started giving me the automatic repair option where it would give me the blue screen that says “choose an option: continue, troubleshoot, turn off your pc”

i trued powering the laptop off and continuing but nothing is working and im really scared i might ruin my laptop so i hope someone can help

    There may still be some corrupted files on the system or corrupted files from the Zoom and Google Chrome installations.

    I suggest you use the system file checker to repair possible corrupted system files.

    1. Open Start and type cmd, right-click on "Command Prompt", and select "Run as administrator".
    2. Run the following commands at the Command Prompt one at a time:

    dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth

    dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

    dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /startcomponentcleanup

    sfc /scannow

    Note: Pay close attention to the results of the commands. This will help you determine whether the procedure was completed successfully or if there was a problem. If you get any errors, let me know the error message that was displayed.

    1. Restart the PC and see if the problem is resolved.

    If the problem persists, reinstall Zoom and Google Chrome.

    A factory reset allows you to retain your personal files, so there's no need to worry if you need to proceed with this option. Should a clean install (format) become necessary, I’ll guide you through the steps to recover your files beforehand, ensuring nothing important is lost during the process.

    If "Startup Repair" was unsuccessful, I recommend trying "System Restore". Have you already attempted this option?

    Rest assured, System Restore does not modify your personal files, so you can use it without any concerns.

    hey there mr david, im really thankful for your help

    so i justdid all of what you told me to but im somehow back to the blue screen that says “start-up repair”

    i dont think it worked if it gave me that again so is there any other wagi could get my laptopto work?

    i dont want to factory recet it though because i have important files on it

    Next time you see that screen.

    Don't be scared.

    When something goes wrong with Windows and it goes into a loop of trying to re-boot itself.

    After 3 tries it usually goes to the screen you are seeing.

    The Screen that you saw is the Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE) with tools to try and fix it.

    There are quicker ways of accessing WinRE.

    To use the Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE) for repairs.

    First access it by either holding Shift while restarting from the login screen, or by navigating to Settings > Update & Security > Recovery and selecting "Restart now". 

    Once in WinRE, select Troubleshoot, then choose Advanced options and select Startup Repair.

    OR other repair tools like System Restore. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the repair process.

    Select Start Up Repair and follow the On-Screen Prompts.

    If you see a Prompt regarding keeping your Files and Folders do so if you do not have a backup of them.

    See if that fixes the issue.

    If that fails WinRE has other options to fix it as well.

    Such as Systems restore providing your computer had restore turned on.

    Based on your report, I suspect that the system may have suffered from significant corruption.

    Try to repair the Windows startup by following the steps below.

    You will need to access the Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE). In your case, to do this, you will repeatedly turn your device off and then on:

    1. Hold down the power button for 10 seconds to turn off your device (If the device is ON when starting the procedure);
    2. Press the power button again to turn on your device;
    3. On the first sign that Windows has started (for example, some devices display the manufacturer's logo with spinning dots when starting), hold down the power button for 10 seconds to turn off your device;
    4. Press the power button again to turn on your device;
    5. When Windows starts, hold down the power button for 10 seconds to turn off your device;
    6. Press the power button again to turn on your device. Windows should display the "Automatic Repair" screen.
    7. Then, select "Advanced options" to enter WinRE.

    • On the Choose an option screen, select "Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Repair".

    If it persists, use system restore to get Windows to the point where it was working.

    Start your computer again in the Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE).

    • On the Choose an option screen, select "Troubleshoot > Advanced options > System Restore" and follow the on-screen instructions.
