I have win 7. How can I upgrade to win 10? Win 11 upgrades state explicitly that I need 10 first and sites are blocked preventing upgrades to 10 from 7.

    Hi Brad!

Thank you for posting your query on community forum!

As I understand, you want to upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10, here I am sharing you the steps which you may try:

    1. Back Up Your Data: Ensure you back up all your important files using an external hard drive or cloud storage service.
    2. Check System Requirements: Verify that your computer meets the minimum system requirements for Windows 10, including a 1GHz processor, 1GB RAM for 32-bit or 2GB for 64-bit, and 16GB of storage.
    3. Download the Windows 10 Media Creation Tool: Visit Microsoft's official website to download the Media Creation Tool here. Download Windows 10
    4. Run the Media Creation Tool: Open the downloaded tool and select Upgrade this PC now.
    5. Follow On-Screen Instructions: Follow the prompts to complete the installation of Windows 10. Choose to keep your files and apps to avoid data loss.
    6. Check Activation: After the upgrade, go to Settings > Update & Security > Activation to ensure your system is activated with a digital license.
    7. Update Drivers and Software: Install all necessary drivers, particularly for graphics, network, and any peripherals. Check Windows Update for any additional updates.

I hope this answers your query, but if you need further assistance feel free to reply.

I tried Windows 10 2022 Update Version 22H2, but then when I tried to open the file, I got the error message C:\users\new owner\Downloads\Windows10Upgrade9252 (2).exe is not a valid Win 32 application. (but I'm pretty sure my Windows 7 Home Premium is 64 bit, so I don't know why I'm getting this error message.) Secondly, I tried Create Windows 10 Installation Media, and got another error message, this time 0x80072F8F-0x20000. I really do not understand why I am getting these error messages- my system is MORE than capable of running Windows 10. I have the latest Windows 7 SP1 installed.

    1. Windows 7 can't run the Update Assistant.
    2. Windows 7 can run the Media Creation Tool, but not until the TLS 1.2 protocol is enabled. See

I can not update or upgrade my elitebook 8460p from windows 7 32bit to windows 10, i receive error 0x80072F8F

Please HELP! I just bought an alienware x51 R2 computer running an i7 4770, with a 2gb GTX760 Ti, 16GB of Ram, and a 2 TB HDD, and my system is running Windows 7 Home Premium. I've been trying for the past 6 hours to get this stupid computer to update to Windows 10 with no success. First, I thought if I went to the Dell website, I could use the Alienware OS Recovery Tool to create a fresh install of Windows 7, then upgrade to Windows 10 after getting the fresh install. I thought I'd have some success, because for the life of me this computer will not upgrade or even start the process towards upgrading to Windows 10.

I thought maybe a fresh install of Windows 7 might fix the problem, and create a straight path towards upgrading to Windows 10, but when I went to the Dell site, and downloaded the Alienware OS Recovery Tool, it said that it required .Net Framework 4.8.1. Well, now THAT's convenient, as when I tried to download the .Net Framework, the software said it was incompatible with my operating systerm! So just how the HECK am I supposed to either 1) create a fresh installation of Windows 7 Home Premium (I do not possess the CD-Rom with Windows 7 on it), thereby allowing me to upgrade to Windows 10, OR 2) using EITHER the Windows 10 Installation Media path, or the Windows 10 2022 Update Version 22H2! If I could find an alienware OS Recovery Tool that accepted an earlier .Net Framework, like 4.6.2, that would be a start, but it only seems to accept 4.8.1, which is SEVERELY LIMITING to those of us who still have computers running Windows 7! I DESPERATELY want to upgrade to 10, or even 11, but I just can't seem to figure out the right path. PLEASE help me! Thank you.
