My PC is so slow and laggy all of a sudden when I haven't done anything to it

I booted up my PC 3 days ago and it glitched out and was really laggy and slow, when it shouldn't be since it wasn't like this before and I have a GTX 1060 3GB and a Intel Core i7-3770 CPU, so I factory reset my PC to see if that would've solved the problem but even after factory resetting it, it's still the same and the slow lag is still there! I can't even watch YouTube for more than 5 minutes without it lagging and glitching out. Please help

Specs:
GPU: GTX 1060 3GB
CPU: Intel Core i7-3770

RAM: 16GB
Storage: 1TB Lexar SSD
500GB HDD
2TB WD Elements Hard Drive
OS: Windows 10 Pro

Even a single bad RAM stick will cause lag, glitches, and system instability.

    Try this:

    1. Press Win + R > type: mdsched.exe > run Windows Memory Diagnostic
    2. Select "Restart now and check for problems"
    3. Let it finish (takes 5–15 mins) and see if it reports any errors.

Boot into Safe Mode with Networking:

    1. Hold Shift while clicking Restart
    2. Go to Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Startup Settings > Restart
    3. Press 5 for Safe Mode with Networking
    4. Try using YouTube or opening a few apps.

If it runs much better, the issue is almost certainly a driver conflict, malware, or some rogue background process.

After trying above steps, please reach out to me if you have any doubts or issues

    Thanks for checking.

Temporarily disconnect your 2TB external hard drive and any USB devices during boot.

Sometimes failing external drives or drivers can cause lag during startup and general use.

I did the mdsched.exe and it detected no errors, I also booted in Safe Mode and opened YouTube and a couple other applications and it was lagging like crazy.

My GPU drivers are all up to date. My CPU drivers are all up to date. And my Windows 10 is all up to date and it still lags when I open 2 applications at once and it didn't do that before 3 days ago.

    Hello ,

I’m here to help you in resolving your issue

Even after a factory reset, outdated or missing drivers can cause performance issues. Make sure your GPU drivers, chipset drivers, and storage drivers are up to date:

For the GTX 1060, go to the NVIDIA website or use GeForce Experience to download the latest drivers.

For the Intel i7-3770, visit the Intel website to ensure your chipset drivers are current.

If you haven't already, make sure Windows 10 is fully updated.
