Bad install of Phone Link effecting operation of Bluetooth

I have a Dell XPS 7590 laptop recently upgraded to Windows 11 (although the problem with Phone Link predates that upgrade). I attempted to install Phone Link to my iPhone. A setting page had two toggles. I choose the top one. It forced an install, then presented a QR code, realizing then I was installing a link for an Android Phone I cancelled the procedure and used the second toggle and installed Phone Link for the iPhone. Screen shot below shows Bluetooth Microsoft Support error message.

Another unfortunate side effect of this corrupt install was to disable the operation of my Bluetooth mouse. Dell Premium Support spent 4 1/2 hours trying to get my mouse back on line in vain.

The help link on the screen shot took me to a MIcrosoft article about Android Support. I would look forward to see documentation on Microsoft’s support for iPhones.

    Hello Timothy,

Thank you for reaching out regarding the installation issue with Phone Link and the effect it had on your Bluetooth mouse functionality. I understand how frustrating this can be, and I appreciate your patience while we work toward a solution.

    Step 1: Update Drivers

Before proceeding with repairs, ensure that your drivers are up to date:

    1. Open Settings > Windows Update and check for pending updates.
    2. Open Device Manager (Win + X > Device Manager).
    3. Expand Bluetooth, Network Adapters, and USB Controllers, then right-click each device and select Update Driver.

Step 2: Repair Phone Link Installation

It’s possible that the initial setup created conflicting settings. To ensure a clean installation:

    1. Uninstall Phone Link Completely
      • Open Settings > Apps > Installed Apps.
      • Search for Phone Link and select Uninstall.
      • Restart your computer to clear any remaining configurations.
    2. Reinstall Phone Link for iPhone
      • Open Microsoft Store, search for Phone Link, and install it again.
      • Make sure you select the iPhone option during setup to avoid compatibility issues.

    Step 3: Restore Bluetooth Functionality

Since Bluetooth settings may have been affected, follow these steps to reconnect your Bluetooth mouse:

    1. Restart Bluetooth Services
      • Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
      • Find Bluetooth Support Service, right-click, and select Restart.
    2. Remove & Reconnect the Bluetooth Mouse
      • Open Settings > Bluetooth & Devices.
      • Remove your Bluetooth mouse from the list of connected devices.
      • Restart your computer and reconnect the mouse.
    3. Update Windows & Bluetooth Settings
      • Open Settings > Windows Update and install any pending updates.
      • Open Device Manager (Win + X > Device Manager), expand Bluetooth, and Update Driver if available.

If the issue persists, I recommend reaching out to Microsoft Support for further assistance: Contact Us - Microsoft Support

I hope this helps! Please let me know if you need further guidance.

    Best regards,
