Hello,

Booted up my new laptop for the first time two hours ago, it got to 6% for the "step one of 3" and restarted, it's now been trying the update again for an hour and is stuck on Step 1 of 3 Downloading 0%

Any suggestions? It hasn't budged from 0%

Ok from my experience even though it says 0% it’s actually working. You just need to leave it alone and not touch it and all of a sudden it gets to the next step. It’s annoying and something MS need to sort out.

    Brand new never used PC.

    Hello DJ1982i,

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Community and I'll be glad to assist you today.

    Try restarting the Update process.

"Based on the description provided, it seems that you still haven't completed the Windows setup and it is stuck at the Windows update screen. If my understanding is correct, please restart the Windows update process.

    1. Press and hold the power button for 15-30 seconds until the PC turns off completely.
    2. Wait a bit and turn it ON.
    3. See if the Update progresses again.

If you have already signed in and the update is stuck in Windows Update settings, please let me know. We can try running the Update Troubleshooter or other methods to fix the Windows Update issue.

I hope this information helps. If you have any questions, please let me know and I will be happy to help you further.

    Best regards,

    Gunasekar N

I just got a brand new laptop and ran into the exact same problem. I tried power off then restart, it still stuck at Step 1 of 3 - 0%. How can I resolve this issue?
