I had installed the ea program before this update and it was running without any problems. But after this update it didn't work at all even after deleting and reinstalling the app.It gives the error ec:104؛An error that says the application's background services are down, when it isn't.
I have tried all possible ways and I am sure that the problem is from the latest Windows update

I have the same issue! I've restarted the app, uninstalled and reinstalled the app, sent report, updated tried to repair. Nothing has worked.

Hi Reza -- I did eventually figure it out, at least the issue that I'm having; 24H2 broke one of the TCP congestion control algorithms. It's annoying that something like this being changed in the OS would break apps, because congestion control is just wholly separate. It's possible this doesn't fix it for you, but hopefully it's at least something else to try. I found this solution from a Steam thread, as it was also broken in a very similar way for me. If you can open Steam just fine, this may not be the right solution for you. Anyways...

    In PowerShell, you can run:

    Get-NetTCPSetting | Select SettingName, CongestionProvider

If you see a row like

    Internet BBR2

    Run:

netsh int tcp set supplemental internet congestionprovider=ctcp

I tried all possible ways؛ I even deleted the program's registry files and reinstalled it، But it was useless.

**I'm sure this issue is completely related to the 24H2 update. If you check this page again, you will see that another user has mentioned this issue.**It's really strange and sad that Microsoft can't even provide a good update.

Even after more than a month, Microsoft has neither acknowledged this problem nor taken any action to fix it. My Game Pass account expired and I couldn't use it properly because of this bad update.
With each update, I regret using Windows more than ever

Hi Bob -- I am also experiencing this issue and have confirmed it is indeed the 24H2 update.

The issue started immediately after installing 24H2, and despite troubleshooting the issue on the EA side (updates, repairs, services.msc changes), nothing suggested worked.

Rolling back the Windows update to 24H1 does address the issue. That, however, is not a permanent fix. Unfortunately, it seems like this is one of many issues with 24H2.

Are there extra details we can provide? Event Viewer has no relevant information in it.

    Hello, Reza Basereh

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community.

Thank you for your feedback on your issue here, it appears that you are experiencing issues with the EA App after the recent Windows update. Prior to the update, the EA App was running fine with no issues. However, since the update I have received the error code EC:104 which suggests that there is a problem with the app's background service, even though the service seems to be running normally.

I have tested this for you, I am also currently on the latest version of 24H2 and opening the EA does not report the error, also no other users have reported this issue at the same time, so there may be some steps that need to be taken to troubleshoot exactly what the issue is.

    1. Check for Windows Updates: Make sure you have installed all the latest updates, including optional updates that may contain known compatibility fixes.
    2. Check for EA App updates: Make sure the EA App is up to date. Sometimes, after an operating system update, the app may need to be updated to maintain compatibility.
    3. Rollback to a previous version of Windows: If the problem is indeed caused by a recent Windows update, you may consider rolling back to a system restore point before the update to see if that solves the problem.

You can also open Settings-Updates-Update History to select the most recent update to uninstall and see if the problem persists after uninstallation.

    1. Disable possible background service conflicts: Disable unnecessary background services (e.g. third-party antivirus software) to rule out possible conflicts with EA App.

You can also try to run it after a clean start to see if it works:

Disclaimer: A “clean boot” starts Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. It helps to determine whether a background service is interfering with your game or program and to isolate the cause of a problem.

These steps of "clean boot" might look complicated at first glance. However, to avoid any trouble for you, please follow them in order and step-by step so that it will help you get back on track.

In addition, I have noticed that other users of EA have reported similar issues at previous times, you can refer to the thread below for a similar issue, and I would also recommend that you visit the EA forums for further assistance.
