Updating requires a force restart

When I try to update my windows, my computer will say "Don't turn off your computer" then it will black screen as if it's restarting, but all of my rgb will stay on. Regardless of how long I let it sit like this, it will not change, no keyboard commands work, I can't click anything. One time after a few hours of it sitting like this, I force shut it down with the power button, even though I know how this is not something I should do. It was my only option. When I turned it back on it went back to saying "Don't turn off your computer" and started going through with the update. Now it'll do the exact same thing every time and I have to force shutdown my pc in order for it to actually start updating. I've tried to do scans to see if my windows is installed correctly or if there are any corrupted files, and I can't find anything online with someone having a similar experience.

I would really like help with this, as this is my first build I built myself, it's only around 1.5 years old, and I've put a solid bit of money into this. I would rather this not evolve into a larger issue that potentially scrambles something and costs me a lot of money.

    Hello Jared,

Thank you for reaching out. Since your update issues persist, performing an in-place upgrade may help resolve the problem without affecting your files and apps. Please follow these steps:

    Using the Windows Installation Media

    1. Download Windows Installation Media:
      • Go to Microsoft's official page: Windows Installation Media.
      • Select Create Windows Installation Media and download the tool.
    2. Run the Media Creation Tool:
      • Open the downloaded tool and select Upgrade this PC now.
      • Follow the on-screen instructions.
    3. Choose to Keep Your Files and Apps:
      • During installation, ensure the option Keep personal files and apps is selected.
      • Click Next and let Windows begin the upgrade process.
    4. Wait for Installation to Complete:
      • Your PC will restart multiple times. Allow the process to finish without interruption.
    5. Verify the Upgrade:
      • Once installed, go to Settings > System > About to confirm you’re on Windows 11.

If the issue persists, you can find additional troubleshooting steps at Microsoft Support. I hope this helps, and please feel free to reach out if you need further assistance!
