ctrl + c and shift + c are not working on my laptop keyboard in windows 11

Hi, I'm on a laptop keyboard and recently experiencing problems with the left ctrl + c and left shift + c combination keys. They are not working when I use the combinations together, but the individual keys themselves work just fine (i.e. left ctrl key works, left shift key works, and "c" works when I press them individually).

Other key combinations also work just fine, like ctrl+a, ctrl+v, ctrl + z, etc. it is only the "c" key combinations that doesn't work.

Also, it is only the left ctrl + c and left shift + c that does not work. The right ctrl/shift + c works just fine.

I've tried several solutions recommended online:

  • updating keyboard driver
  • uninstalling/reinstalling keyboard driver
  • testing the keys in safemode
  • scanning for malware/viruses
  • checking if the malfunctioning shortcut keys are enabled
  • also, tested using an external keyboard, and the combination keys work properly when used thru an external keyboard

But, nothing has worked so far, so, here I am asking for a bit of help.

Thank you

Hi, I am Dave, I will help you with this.

Do you have Nvidia graphics on your system?

If you do, open the Nvidia app, then disable the Game Overlay Mode setting, restart your PC and check if those key combinations are working correctly.

I understand the individual keys work correctly, but do those key combinations (Ctrl + C, Shift + C) work on the on-screen keyboard and external keyboard?

Yes, individually they work just fine on the on-screen key board.

It's only in combination of ctrl +c and shift + c when they don't. I also tested it on an online keyboard tester, and the individual keys work without issue.

    Thank you for that information.

If you bring up the on-screen keyboard, are those key combinations working on the on-screen keyboard?

Hi Dave, thank you for replying, I appreciate the help!

Upon checking, I don't have Nvidia graphics. I believe I have AMD instead
