No Audio Device installed, Realtek drivers will not install

Hello,

I have a Lenovo Yoga 9i running Windows 11 Pro 23H2 - which I just installed.

My laptop is no longer playing audio nor are my audio drivers showing up in device manager. I've tried everything, I've redownloaded drivers, done reboots, done troubleshooting - but nothing. Please, please help as I desperately need my computer working for my job.

I tried downloading realtek both through their site and my manufacturer's site - each time I run the installer it says installation was successful but then the drivers do not appear (not even after a restart) nor does the sound work.

Thanks for the update, Nathaniel. If Realtek still doesn’t show, it means Windows likely isn’t detecting the audio hardware.

Please check Device Manager > System Devices or Other devices for anything like "High Definition Audio Controller" or "Unknown device" that tells us if the hardware is seen.

Then open Lenovo Vantage from the Microsoft Store and run System Update it’s the safest way to get the correct driver.

If still no sound, check BIOS (F2 at startup) and make sure audio is enabled.

Let me know what shows in Device Manager.

Hi, I'm Arlene, an independent advisor.

Just to check, in Device Manager, is the “Sound, video and game controllers” section missing completely, or is it there with no Realtek listed?

Since the Realtek drivers say they install but don’t appear, it’s possible Windows isn’t detecting your audio hardware. Try this:

Right-click Start > Windows Terminal (Admin)

    Type: sfc /scannow

    Then: DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

    Restart your PC

Also, go to Settings > Windows Update > Advanced options > Optional updates — check if an audio driver is available there.

Lastly, use Lenovo Vantage (from Microsoft Store) to scan and install drivers made for your Yoga 9i. That’s the most reliable method supported by both Lenovo and Microsoft.

Let me know how it goes.

    Regards,

    Arlene D.

The “Sound, video and game controllers” section is there, just no Realtek listed.

Tried all of the above fixes - no luck.
