2025-06 Cumulative Update Preview for Windows 11 Version 24H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5060829) Install Error
I can't install the 2025-06 Cumulative Update Preview for Windows 11 Version 24H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5060829) on my Dell Inspiron 3511 laptop and each time it tries to install I get this error code-Install error - 0x800f0831. I haven't had any issues installing any windows updates. I feel that this update might be corrupted. I have tried several different solutions and still can't install this update.

2025-06-28T18:12:23+00:00 I’m trying that update again. I reinstalled the System part of Windows again from the Cloud. Save your personal files. You probably need to reset the System part of Windows using Cloud set up. It completed the install after this step.

2025-06-28T17:55:20+00:00 Hi, my name is Julian. Since this is a public forum made up mostly of fellow gamers and users like you and me, all we can offer are guidance and suggestions. I'm sorry you’re running into this issue. I know how frustrating it is when updates fail out of the blue, especially when everything else has worked smoothly before. Error 0x800f0831 usually points to a missing or corrupted update component.
Here are a few steps that can help:
- Run the Windows Update Troubleshooter
Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters, then run the Windows Update troubleshooter. - Use the Windows Update Assistant
This tool can bypass the error and reinstall the update properly:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-downlo... - Try DISM and SFC scans (to fix possible corruption):
Open Command Prompt as Administrator and run the following one at a time:
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
sfc /scannow - Manually install the update from the Microsoft Update Catalog:
Search for KB5060829 here:
https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Home.aspx
Let me know how it goes.
None of these steps seem to be working for me 😭
with the manual install, i get an error "Installer encountered an error: 0x800f0838"please help 🙏
- Run the Windows Update Troubleshooter
