Unable to update windows 11

Hello,

Please help!

I'm about to panic!

It's been almost a month since I was able to do a Windows Update... There's a little red dot on the tray that saying my device is missing important updates. But updates always fail! My PC works well, games, Graphics editing, Sound production (cubase), and coding in vscode... all works fine, but updates always fail.

I've tried:

  • Rebooting
  • chkdsk c: /f /r (including all drives) - no issues
  • Halting update service, deleting SoftwareDistribution, then re-enabling the service (and of course rebooting again)
  • DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth (hanged, until I did "DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth", then it ran ok)
  • DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
  • sfc /scannow

Nothing helps; updates still fail.

My last resort is to use an installation media and try to fix it through it. but Every ISO I downloaded refuse to keep my apps, claiming I have the wrong language, Which is not true! I'm using a US-EN installation (interface and main language English United States) and a secondary language Hebrew (installed later from settings). Maybe because it's an upgraded win10? I don't know, I even bought an original key for 11...

The thing is, reinstalling all apps will be a huge headache, Please help me fix it without losing my 1000s of apps?

[Surprisingly, my PC is still very stable]

There are no hard blocks reported. Please try one of the following options:

Uninstall Norton 360 and run a repair installation via Settings.

Launch Settings > System > Recovery. Under "Fix problems using Windows Update", select "Reinstall now."

    (or)

Reset the Windows Update cache using this batch file to see if that fixes the issue: https://gist.github.com/winhelponline/af9296c106448a664a6229d8146a85fd

    1. Download the zip file and extract the batch file to the desktop.
    2. Right-click on the batch file, click Properties, click "Unblock" (if present), and OK.
    3. Double-click the batch file to run it.
    4. After it completes execution, don't close it yet.
    5. Right-click on that Command Prompt window, click "Edit" and click "Select all"
    6. Right-click on that Command Prompt window, click "Edit" and click "Copy" (This copies the output to the clipboard.)
    7. Paste the info (Ctrl + V) into your reply window.

    "Reinstall now" is grayed out.

Trying that batch file but it's seems to have errors: Files in Use and access denied

    1. Please boot into Safe mode or Safe mode with Networking.

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/windows-startup-settings-1af6ec8c-4d4a-4b23-adb7-e76eef0b847f

Rerun the batch file and post the output.

    1. Restart into normal mode. Run "optionalfeatures.exe" via the Win + R dialog. Does the dialog render correctly?

Launch Settings > System > Recovery. Under "Fix problems using Windows Update", select "Reinstall now."

This does a repair installation, keeping your files, apps, and settings.

    Hi,

Please share your setup logs for analysis. The following batch file collects the setup logs and saves the zip file to your desktop.

Download setuplogscollect.bat and save it to the desktop.

    https://gist.github.com/winhelponline/26b28c4b6...

Right-click on the downloaded file and click Properties. Click "Unblock" and click OK.

Extract the batch file to the desktop.

Right-click on the file and choose "Run as administrator"

It outputs a SetupLogs.zip file on your desktop.

Share the file on OneDrive or GoFile.io and post the download link here.

(The batch file contains plain text code. You can read its contents using Notepad before running it. It collects the setup logs, msinfo32.exe log, drivers list, boot configuration info, and the compatibility appraiser results from your system.)
