DCP_WATCHDOG_VIOLATIONS when installing windows.

Hi everyone, I’m trying to do a clean install of Windows on my PC, but I ran into a serious issue.

I created a bootable USB using the Media Creation Tool and started installing Windows. During the installation process, I got a blue screen (BSOD) with the error “DPC Watchdog Violation.” After that, the PC restarted by itself, but now I get no display at all — just a black screen, and nothing happens. I waited 30+ minutes and still nothing. I have no access to desktop since the OS can't seem to run and no bios.

Here’s what I’ve tried:

  • Removed CMOS battery and cleared BIOS
  • Tried booting with only one stick of RAM
  • Unplugged all drives except the boot USB
  • Rebuilt the USB installer on another PC
  • Swapped GPU, CPU, SSD, RAM

And everytime I boot the pc it's the same loop, American loading, freeze, blue screen, pc restart, no display detected.

My guess is that for some reason my motherboard or something isn't reconizing the partitions, but idk what to do.

Hi, I am Dave, I will help you with this.

Try simplifying your PC build, use only one stick of RAM, if you have integrated graphics on your processor, remove the graphics card and connect the screen to the video output on the motherboard, and if there is more than one drive on your PC, remove any other drives apart from the target drive.

Then check if you can get an image on the screen and install Windows fully using your bootable USB.

When you start your PC now, what is the sequence you see on your screen if you cannot even access BIOS.

You should never get blue screens when you are installing Windows from a bootable USB created with the official Media Creation Tool, that indicates either your USB is corrupt (unlikely since you have re-created it) or there is a hardware fault causing the blue screens.

How far into the instalaltion process do you get before you see the blue screen, do you get to wipe the partitions from the internal drive, then are the instalaltion files copied to the internal drive.

Hey, I have tried with only one ram stick, but unfortunately same thing. I only have my m.2 ssd in my motherboard and the bootable usb key with windows 11 installed in plugged in my motherboard port. I also don't have integrated graphics in my cpu.

    Am I doing something wrong?
