Hello on,
Thank you so much for reaching out, I am Dexter an independent advisor, and I am glad to assist you today.
The error message "Sorry about that! Something went wrong, but we are making it right. Try refreshing or come back later" is often linked to problems with the Microsoft Store app itself or its associated components.
You can try these steps to Resolve the Microsoft Store Issue:
- Check Account Type
Ensure you're signed in with a Microsoft account. The Microsoft Store may not be available if you're using a local account. To verify or switch accounts:
Go to Settings > Accounts > Your Info.
If it says "Local Account," consider switching to a Microsoft account.
- Reset the Microsoft Store Cache
Corrupted cache files can cause the Store to malfunction. To reset the cache:
Press Windows + R to open the Run dialog.
Type wsreset.exe and press Enter.
A Command Prompt window will appear and reset the cache. The Store will open automatically once the process is complete.
- Re-register the Microsoft Store
If resetting the cache doesn't help, you can re-register the Microsoft Store:
Open PowerShell as Administrator.
Copy and paste the following command and press Enter:
Get-AppXPackage *WindowsStore* -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}
Restart your computer after the process completes.
- Install Missing Dependencies via Xbox App
Some users have found that installing the Xbox app can restore missing components, including the Microsoft Store:
Download and install the Xbox app from the Microsoft website.
Upon installation, the app may prompt you to install missing dependencies.
Follow the prompts to install any recommended components.
- Check Date and Time Settings
Incorrect system time can block the Store from connecting to Microsoft's servers:
Go to Settings > Time & Language > Date & Time.
Enable Set time automatically and Set time zone automatically.
Restart your computer and try opening the Store again.
- Run System File Checker (SFC) and DISM
Corrupted system files can cause issues with the Microsoft Store:
Open Command Prompt as Administrator.
Run the following commands one by one:
sfc /scannow
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
Wait for each process to complete and then restart your computer.
- Create a New User Account
If the issue persists, creating a new user account can help determine if the problem is related to your current user profile:
Go to Settings > Accounts > Family & other users.
Click Add someone else to this PC and follow the prompts to create a new account.
Sign in with the new account and check if the Microsoft Store works.
Should you have more questions, please let me know.
Best regards,
Dexter
