How do I turn off Copilot in Outlook?

The Copilot icon has begun appearing in my Outlook messages wherever I type. I am a creative fiction writer so it's of no use to me, I just find it visually distracting. But can't figure out how to turn it off. Is there any way to do this? I will have to completely stop using Outlook for email if I can't fix this.

EDIT: I downgraded my subscription from Microsoft 365 Personal to Personal Classic which is not supposed to include AI, but the icon still appears and I still can't get rid of it. I tried calling the customer support number but it just tells me to go to the website, which is not helpful. I just need someone to tell me how to get this thing off my screen.

" In your Outlook app, go to File > Options > Copilot. "

This wont work for me as the option doesn't exist.

I can't find an option even to hide the copilot button in customise the ribbon or any other options menu. Which isn't what I actualy want to do. I want it removed system wide not just hidden in menu's

Please MS accept that a large portion of your customer base doesn't want ANY AI, but particularly yours due to lack of trust.

I will NEVER buy another Windows machine after my experience with Win 11.

I have already migrated all my personal use to a Mac & couldn't be happier, I unfortunately still have to use Windows for work.

The time it wastes putting everything back how it used to be after an update is so annoying!

There is no File to find Options as suggested to remove co-pilot from my Outlook either. I am writing personal emails with specific content and cannot get rid of copilot distraction...it is in the way!

I have Office 365 but am interested in the use of co-pilot for the future of other applications...just not when I am composing an email.

    HELP

    Thank you

Same question. I have co-pilot disabled but it persists in Outlook 365.

Version: 1.2025.404.500 (production); Client version: 20250404005.07; WebView2 Version: 135.0.3179.54 (stable).

"file" is not an option ...

Searched all over settings ... nothing.

Anyplace that has an option to disable copilot, is already set to disabled.

    Anybody have the solution?

If not ... proton mail might be in my future.

How the disabled AI follows down my emails when writing -- just beyond ok.

I've just been into 'Start-Settings-Apps' & searched for Copilot, found it had re-installed it's self as part of an update & uninstalled it AGAIN!

Restarted Outlook hoping this might have worked but no it's still bloody there!

It's not even in my apps because I did manage to uninstall it, but it's still appearing in Outlook
