Is it normal to get updates every day with Windows 11?

I upgraded from windows 10 to 11 4 days ago, after putting it off for ages. It appears to be fine, but I have had updates every day for the last 4 days. And I have difficulty restarting my PC every time. There is another update [2025-06 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 24H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5060842)] pending, but I am very wary of it now and have paused it. Is it normal to get so many updates after installing Windows 11, and is the latest update a safe one? I am not very technical and don't want to have to start looking at the complicated 'fixes' I have seen on this forum!!

Hi, I am Dave, I will help you with this.

Windows 11 updates are released once a month on Patch Tuesday, and if you have the switch enabled to 'Get Windows updates as soon as they are released', you would also get a preview update near the end of the month, it is best to disable that switch, there is no need to install optional preview updates.

If you are seeing updates every day, they are most likely just small virus definition updates for Defender to ensure Defender is up to date.

KB5060842 is the newly released June update that was released yesterday evening and there are no reported problems with that update.

Have you looked at your update history to see what has updated? Be sure to look under each category.

Monthly updates come on the second Tuesday of each month.

Once all updates for your computer and Windows 11 are completed you should only receive updates according to your update settings.

Be sure to check, More options.
