WORKING way to Disable Efficiency Mode.

I7-14700K, 32gb RAM, 16GB VRAM on a 6GHz Wifi. Nowhere in that system specs does it show "please slow down my system for me" so STOP IT. I have tried several fix attempts but this STUPID 'Feature' Still turns on every time. "Turning it off task manager" Simply DOES NOT WORK. How is that a solution if it IMMEDIATELY REENABLES when I turn on a new tab, A very standard thing to do during internet Browsing?! I seen Multiple Different threads asking the same thing dating back to 2023. How does a billion dollar company still not have this sorted? Just give an ACTUAL solution to this issue. If i want to see the green leaf in task manager, make it as its meant to be MY CHOICE! I do NOT want my honestly quite beefy system already which can overclock even faster, meaning I AM ALREADY SLOWING IT DOWN MYSELF, to be FORCED slower by windows efficiency mode.

Also no not microsoft edge efficiency mode.

ALSO also, Can't insert an image? I would add a screenshot of it failing but.........

Seriously, I've seen the threads as well trying to find a way out of this **** efficiency mode. It only worsens performance and every suggestion mentioned to fix does not work because efficiency mode will always be there unless you turn it off manually through task manager but even that is useless because you'll find efficiency mode has automatically been turned on again. Microsoft seriously needs to do better and stop forcing ****. they can sit there and say isn't turned on automatically but that is total bs because it forces its self and there's no way around it

As Expected, the Stop gap 'Fixes Don't really work, apart from maybe regedit but I don't have that much time to look it all through. I've even tried adding command lines to browser shortcuts which seemed to work initially but have now stopped. So simple answer, yes issue is on-going and windows needs to do better. You cannot have a majority OS market share and not fix issues like these. It's been an issue for quite some time now, with threads posted here some dating back to 2023. Just because a majority are not savvy enough to realize the 'efficiency mode' throttling is causing their browser slowdowns & complaining about it, does not mean they can ignore those that are and have been.

    Hi Galvatron 38,

Thank you for posting here in Community.

I hear your frustration loud and clear Efficiency Mode should be something you control, not something that keeps re-enabling itself against your wishes. It’s understandable that with a high-performance system like yours, you want every ounce of power available without interference.

Windows 11’s Efficiency Mode is designed to reduce resource usage for background processes, but many users have reported that it automatically re-enables itself, even after being manually disabled. Unfortunately, Microsoft has not provided a built-in way to permanently disable it across all processes1.

While there’s no universal "off switch," here are some steps that might help:

    1. Disable Efficiency Mode in Task Manager (Per Process)
      • Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc).
      • Go to the Processes tab.
      • Locate the process that is in Efficiency Mode (marked with a green leaf).
      • Right-click the process and select Efficiency Mode to toggle it off.
    2. Check Power Settings
      • Open Settings (Win + I).
      • Navigate to System > Power & Battery.
      • Ensure your power mode is set to Best Performance.
    3. Disable Efficiency Mode via Registry (Advanced)
      • Open Registry Editor (Win + R, type regedit, and hit Enter).
      • Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power
      • Look for any entries related to Efficiency Mode and modify them cautiously.
    4. Use Group Policy Editor (For Pro Versions)
      • Open Group Policy Editor (Win + R, type gpedit.msc, and hit Enter).
      • Navigate to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > System > Power Management.
      • Look for settings related to Efficiency Mode and disable them.
    5. Check for Windows Updates
      • Microsoft may have released updates addressing this issue.
      • Go to Settings > Windows Update and install any pending updates.

Unfortunately, many users have reported that even after disabling Efficiency Mode, it reactivates when opening new tabs or launching certain applications. Microsoft has yet to provide a permanent fix, and the best workaround is manually disabling it per process.

I completely understand how frustrating this is, especially when you’ve invested in high-end hardware. Hopefully, Microsoft will address this in future updates. In the meantime, these steps should help mitigate the issue.

Let me know if you need further clarification!

    Best regards,

    Bo | Microsoft Community
