Yes, you can just ignore the preview update and wait for the new windows updates on the 2nd week of July, patch Tuesday.
Can't update to 2025-06 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 24H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5063060) Install error - 0x80070306
2025-06 Cumulative Update Preview for Windows 11 Version 24H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5060829)-- Windows update is not getting installed. It was getting downloaded, then getting installed 100 percent, then it is getting retry. Install error - 0x80070306
So I tried some things to get it solved, but nothing worked. Letting you know what I did, so I tried
- first of all windows update troubleshooter but I dont know it was not working properly or what because whenever I clicked on run directly get help window got opened but any troubleshooter kind of thing didnt run Has it just opened the get help window and their first they asked me the question whether the problem is happening before installing or after installation So I choose the before installation problem part then they asked me Can we run the Windows Update automated diagnostic?- yes the reply-
The Windows Update diagnostic failed to run I'm sorry. I was unable to run the Windows Update diagnostic. I might need to transfer you to an agent to help solve your problem.Would you like to talk to an agent? 2. Then I went to services and made some changes in app readiness. There, I made it automatic. Then again, I tried to download the Windows update I got the same error 0x80070306
- Then I ran sfc /scannow on Windows Powershell as administrator, and I got that they didn't find any integrity violation, but the error got changed into 0X80070005
- Then again, I ran sfc /scannow on the command prompt as an administrator, then again I got the output that they did not find any integrity violation. Then again, the first error that came earlier, which again came which was 0x80070306
- Then, in the C drive folder, there is a folder WinREAgent. So I first copied it to the desktop, then deleted it from the C drive, then tried to install the update, but it didn't happen again. The same error came 0x80070306. Then I put the file again on the C drive
- Then I tried another thing from the services. I restarted Windows Update and Background Intelligent Transfer Service, then I tried to install again I got the same error 0x80070306
- Then I thought maybe after installing Windows 11 assistant, so from there the exe file got downloaded, then I tried to run it, then it was saying that it is up to date
But I didnt they downloaded this exact update from the Microsoft update catalogue because I was not sure whether after downloading it whether I'll be getting some other issues like my all drivers are getting lost or my ports are not working as those were seen in other people's updates so I want to be sure and I don't want these kind of problems and this is really sad like a big organisation like windows are having these kind of problems
Laptop configuration- I7 12th gen

2025-07-03T09:19:26+00:00 I forgot to mention that when I ran sfc /scannow then I ran DISM /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth --> The component store is repairable. The operation completed successfully. --> then ran DISM /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth, It was completed in almost two hours then got output--> Error: 0x800f0915 The repair content could not be found anywhere. Check the internet connectivity or use the "Source" option to specify the location of the files that are required to restore the image. For more information on specifying a source location, see https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=243077. The DISM log file can be found at C:\WINDOWS\Logs\DISM\dism.log
So after this, I restarted my laptop, but after that, I tried to download the updates. It was taking too much time, so I closed it. Then, I shut down my Laptop and opened it after 11 hours. And deleted all the unnecessary apps or things that I don't need. Then, I was worried that maybe I had any corrupted files, so I did some checking
- Firstly, I went to C drive --> properties --> tools --> error check. I scanned the C drive, and no errors were found.
- I again ran sfc /scannow ----> Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.
And the things which you told me do. So, I tried to download wushowhide.diagcab I don't know whether it got downloaded or not because as I clicked there mcafee popped up and that it is checking The download thing but after that I didn't saw anything getting downloaded so I don't know whether it got downloaded or not i'm still able to see the update in the windows update section So now I don't know what to do maybe if you are saying that there is no need to install this update so maybe I can ignore it

2025-07-02T23:00:56+00:00 Hi, good day! I'm John Dev a Windows user like you and I'll be happy to assist you today. I know this has been difficult for you, rest assured, I'm going to do my best to help you.
Microsoft has begun implementing and releasing Optional preview updates that are typically released on the 3rd or 4th week of every month. These updates allow admins to test the patch before its mandatory launch on Patch Tuesday (2nd week of the month). If you are not experiencing any issues with your system, there is no need to install the preview update.
Please check if you can still use the “Show or Hide Updates” troubleshooter to hide the preview update. Window Update won’t install hidden drivers or updates. Run the troubleshooter then please try to hide KB5060829 update if it appears. You may try restarting your pc if it helps.
