Windows routes HDMI sound through the graphics adapter rather than the Cirrus or Intel Serial IO drivers. What driver package do I need for Windows 11?

I can't get HDMI sound to receiver/speakers to work.

    Lsherm,

Thank you so much for reaching out. I am Iggy, an independent advisor, and glad to assist you today with this issue.

The HDMI/DisplayPort audio is embedded in the GPU's driver bundle. If you recently upgraded to WIn11 please follow the steps below. You just need to install the latest drivers for your GPU.

Here’s how to do it depending on your GPU vendor:

    1. Download the Correct Driver Package

    For NVIDIA:

    For AMD:

    For Intel (UHD/Arc/Xe):

    1. Clean Up with DDU (Recommended if Issues Persist)
      • Download DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller)
      • Boot into Safe Mode
      • Run DDU > Select GPU vendor > Remove everything
      • Reboot normally and reinstall the driver from step 2
    2. Verify Installation

    After installation:

    • Open Device Manager
    • Expand Sound, video and game controllers

    You should see:

    • NVIDIA High Definition Audio
    • or AMD High Definition Audio Device
    • or Intel Display Audio

Let me know once done so I can further assist you.

    Regards,

    Iggy
