W11 POWER PLANS MISSING SUDDEN IN APRIL 2025
SOMEONE CLAIMS (https://www.dell.com/community/en/conversations/inspiron/g5-5590-high-performance-missing/647f97b0f4ccf8a8deab95e5?commentId=647f986df4ccf8a8deb8ea70) BELOW:
Alright, here is the solution:
- Do not restore your system or reinstall Win!
- Make sure Intel Speed Step is disabled in BIOS.
- You need modify the Modern sleep registry by typing this commande in CMD or powershell and restart:
reg add HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power /v PlatformAoAcOverride /t REG_DWORD /d 0
- Then add the missing power plans by typing these commandes in CMD or powershell:
Restore Power saver power plan:
powercfg -duplicatescheme a1841308-3541-4fab-bc81-f71556f20b4a
Restore Balanced power plan:
powercfg -duplicatescheme 381b4222-f694-41f0-9685-ff5bb260df2e
Restore High Performance power plan:
powercfg -duplicatescheme 8c5e7fda-e8bf-4a96-9a85-a6e23a8c635c
Restore Ultimate Performance power plan:
powercfg -duplicatescheme e9a42b02-d5df-448d-aa00-03f14749eb61
That's it.
Conclusion: All of this happened after a forced win update, updating the BIOS and few registeries. What happens is when speed step is enabled, win hides all the power plans and leave only one (usually Balanced) available.
By the way, doing this will help you to get back all the advanced option in power management.
MY QUESTION IS:
Why cant any of you at MS tell us 'here' that:
the issue is due to recent updates causing change due to intel speedstep settings in bios that the update changed along with some registry entries causing the OS to hide all powerplans but the balanced option.
and then continue to explain why: ?.....
"PLEASE DO THIS NOW ALONG WITH VARIFYING IF THE DETAILS ABOVE ARE INDEED CORRECT OR NOT" !.......

2025-05-18T16:10:09+00:00 Hi,
I know right, I'm annoyed also, brand new pc, possible smashed user account profile, just make a new a new one, see if it fixes issue. Well, Afterall, 'smashed user profiles' on carefully used 'nearly brand new default machines' is 'normal', not a serious concern at all, it wouldn't be interesting for me to know if drivers/ programs/ or something else had caused 'worrying' user profile damage, not at allllll...
