i have a monitor connected to my laptop by ( DVI - HDMI ) cable
the 2nd monitor is Dell P3223QE that i want to connect it allow me to connect by ( HDMI - Display Port - USB C )

* I tried to connect it with HDMI to HDMI but the it didn`t allow me to use the USB A or the Ethernet that exists in the monitor so,
* I tried to connect it with usb c to usb c cable ( 20 W ) and it show " Display connection might be limited " with no signal by usb c on the monitor screen

  • My question which display connection that will allow me to use the USB A & Ethernet from my monitor?
  • The second question: Which cable should i use to get the benefit of 4k/60hz , USB C TO USB C or i should use USB C to Display Port ?
  • which USB C that can make me connect it without any problems, if there`s a recommendation for specific cable i would like to know.

    > Does this adapter ... allow me to use the USB A that located in the monitor ?

    Probably not.

Typically, you would connect a mouse or keyboard or USB memory-stick or external CD/DVD device or web-camera to the USB-A socket on your monitor. Also, you would need a USB-A-to-USB-B cable from the computer to the monitor, to pass the signals "through" the monitor to your computer.

You're very welcome, and I truly appreciate your kind words, I'm glad I could help clarify things for you! You're absolutely on the right track now.

For the cable: You don’t need high wattage like 100W or 240W unless you're also charging through the same port. For display and data use like yours, what matters most are the following details:

    > USB-C with DisplayPort Alt Mode support

    > USB 3.2 Gen 2 or higher (for full data + video)

    > 4K@60Hz capable

    > Preferably certified for video

Brands like Ugreen and Anker both offer high-quality cables, just make sure to double-check the specs before buying. Look for product descriptions that clearly mention:

    > 4K@60Hz

    > HDR support

    > DisplayPort Alt Mode

    > And ideally, USB 3.2 Gen 2

Wishing you crystal-clear 4K and smooth multitasking ahead, have a beautiful day as well!

Hi, I'm Ric, an independent advisor. I'm sorry you're experiencing this issue. I totally get how frustrating display and USB-C issues can be, especially with high-spec monitors like the Dell P3223QE.

    Try these steps:

    1. You must connect via USB-C using a USB-C cable that supports full DisplayPort Alt Mode + USB 3.x data (not just charging or USB 2.0). The “Display connection might be limited” error usually means the cable doesn’t support video or full data.

    Recommended cable:

    A USB-C to USB-C cable with:

    > USB 3.2 Gen 2 or Thunderbolt 3/4

    > DisplayPort Alt Mode support

    > 4K@60Hz and HDR capable

(e.g., from certified brands like Anker, Cable Matters, Belkin, or Club3D)

    1. To get 4K@60Hz + HDR

    > Either USB-C to USB-C (with proper spec as above)

    or

    > USB-C to DisplayPort (monitor DP input), this also works well for high resolution + refresh rate

The USB-C to DisplayPort method won't enable USB-A/Ethernet on the monitor though, since it's display-only.

Make sure your Lenovo Legion 5 USB-C port supports DisplayPort + data (it usually does, but confirm in specs)

Update your graphics and USB drivers from Lenovo Support https://support.lenovo.com/ph/en/

Hope this helps, otherwise, I would be happy to assist you further.

    thanks for the replay
Does this adapter will allow me to use the USB A that located in the monitor ?
and also allow me to use the monitor with 4k 60hz with 10 bit color ?

    You could use this adapter:

    https://www.bestbuy.ca/en-ca/product/cables-to-go-c2g-graphic-adapter-usb-type-c-29531/10521122

    or something like it.

It connects to the USB-C port on your laptop, and to HDMI-input on your monitor.
