Chrome and Edge browsers show me the same error (ERR_CONNECTION_CLOSED), it happens when I try to perform a search, also with Edge the startup images show an error when loading, the only browser that works for me is Brave, I have tried everything: restart the router, clear the cache, update the drivers, restore the internet settings, and a long etc. and nothing, I can't find the solution, !I would really appreciate it if you could help me solve it!

Hi again, Thanks for the detailed follow up. Based on your update, it definitely sounds like the installation of "Safer Web" and RAV Antivirus via uTorrent may have introduced settings or background services that affected your network stack, even after you removed them.

Running three antivirus programs simultaneously can cause conflicts, especially in how they filter internet traffic. I recommend:

    • Temporarily disabling or uninstalling Avast, Bitdefender, and Malwarebytes (try one at a time).

    • Then test Chrome and Edge again.

If one of them is injecting network filters or web shields, it could explain why Brave, which handles DNS independently, still works.

Use Autoruns to Check for Hidden Startup Tasks

    Download Autoruns from Microsoft Sysinternals:

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/...

    • Search for any lingering RAV, Safer Web, or unknown browser proxy entries.

    • Disable those entries and restart.

If you continue to experience any problems, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

    Best,

    Best,

Thank you very much for the answer! It turns out that all this time the one responsible for the browsers not working was Avast web shield, the strange thing was that before shield was not giving me problems until rav was installed, I thank you again for your comments I was beginning to believe it was a bug in my pc.

Hello there, lia! This is Marc. Thank you for reaching out Microsoft Community. I'm happy to assist!

Thanks for detailing what y‌ou’ve tried, that helps a lot. Since Brav‌e works, b‌ut both‌ Chrome and Edge show ERR_CONNECTION_CLOSED, this point‌s to a possible issue with how certain Chromium-based browsers‌ (which all three are) are interacting with Windows network settings, firewalls, or pro‌xy configura̲t‌ions.

First, check if a VPN, antiviru‌s, or f‌irewall (esp‌ecially third-party ones like Avast, Norton, or Kas‌persky‌) might be interfering, try temporarily disabling them‌ and see i‌f the issue goes away.

Next, press Win + R, type inetcpl.cpl, go to the Connections tab > LA‌N setti‌ngs, and make sure "Use a proxy server" is unchecke‌d, unless you're intentionally using one.

It’s also worth opening Command Prompt (Admin) and running the‌se two commands to‌ res͙et network stack s‌ettings:

    netsh winsock rese‌t
    netsh int ip reset

    Then restart your computer.

If that still doesn’t solve it, let me know i‌f you’ve installed any system-wide ad blockers, DNS f‌ilters, or tunneling software, the‌se can block connections in Chrome/Edge but not affect Brave‌ if it’s using its own DNS or HTTPS stack.

Please let me know if this resolves your issue, and I will be happy to assist further if needed.

    Regards,

the proxy server option is unchecked, also, I tried the commands but they didn't work, I'm suspecting that maybe an application that was installed without my consent with utorrent is the cause of this, it was called Safer Web, that came with the rav "antivirus", although according to me I already got rid of those applications and their files, apart I have three antivirus, avast, bitdefender and malwarebites I don't know if those antivirus could have caused the problem, althoug I highly doubt that they were the cause since before I didn't have problems with the browsers but when that antivirus was installed the browsers started to fail.
