The sleep button only turns off my screen, but it doesn't sleep, though I checked my setting.

I have already checked setting → system → power&battery → lid,power&sleep button controls,

and I tried to switch to another and then back, any of other choices works, but not 'sleep' choice. It only close my screen.

    Hi John Xu

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with the sleep function on your Windows 11 device. Let's try a few troubleshooting steps to resolve this.

Advanced Power Settings: Check in Control Panel under Hardware and Sound → Power Options → Change plan settings → Change advanced power settings. Ensure that sleep, hybrid sleep, and hibernate settings are correctly configured.

Power Requests: Run the command powercfg /requests from an elevated Command Prompt to identify any processes or devices preventing sleep.

Device Manager Checks: Verify power management settings for network adapters and USB devices, ensuring they aren’t preventing sleep by being allowed to wake the computer.

Fast Startup: Disable Fast Startup (via Control Panel → Hardware and Sound → Power Options → Choose what the power buttons do) as it can sometimes interfere with sleep mode.

Driver & Firmware Updates: Update your device drivers and check for BIOS/UEFI firmware updates that might address sleep state issues.

Restore Default Power Schemes: Reset your power plans to the default settings using the command powercfg -restoredefaultschemes to clear any misconfigurations.

Perform Repair in-place upgrade: This will reinstall your Operating System and will keep your files and apps. This will take some time depending on the computer performance and internet speed. You can follow the steps from this link: How to perform repair upgrade in Windows 11 - Microsoft Community

Please let me know if this helps.

Thank you! Reseting Fast Startup does help. I closed it and restarted, and it worked. Then I switched on and restarted again, sleep mode remains available! Thank you very much!
