Hello everyone! I’m in no way computer savvy and picked up an ibuypower gaming pc a couple months back. Everything was going great and working normally and my wife and I were enjoying Skyrim then powered it off to go to bed. Next day we hop back onto Skyrim and it’s immediately laggy and ends up crashing and rebooting my computer and now I can’t get more on for more than 10 minutes before I get the blue screen of diagnostics. First it said system_service_exception, so I tried to do a system restore to a week or two ago and I was going to update drives, but it’s now crashed and I get the blue screen with critical_process_died. I’ve tried to even do like a complete windows restore and that’s fails everytime I try. I have also tried going into the command prompt and trying the standard stuff like sfc /scan now and dism /online /cleanup-image/restore health and nothing is working. Please help. Thank you!

    Hello Chase,

Thanks for describing your situation. I’m Adrian, an Independent Advisor. I know how stressful it can be when your PC suddenly starts showing blue screens, especially after everything was working perfectly. You're not alone in this, and I'm here to help walk you through it step by step.

From your message, I understand you're seeing error messages like:

    SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION

    CRITICAL_PROCESS

System restore and even a full Windows reset are failing.

You've already tried the sfc /scannow and DISM commands without success.

These issues usually point to one of the following:

    • Corrupted system files or failed updates
    • A failing drive (especially if the Windows reset fails)
    • Hardware-related problems (e.g., RAM or SSD issues)
    • Recently added software or drivers conflicting with the system

Let's try to perform some steps to troubleshoot and isolate whether the issue is with the hardware or with your Windows operating system.

    1. Try Booting Into Safe Mode

This helps rule out drivers or third-party software:

Hold Shift while clicking Restart from the login screen or Start menu.

Go to Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Startup Settings > Restart

    Press 4 for Safe Mode.

If Safe Mode works, the issue is likely software- or driver-related.

    1. Test Your Hardware

Faulty RAM or storage could be the culprit.

Press Windows + R, type mdsched.exe, and choose Restart now and check for problems.

    1. Perform in-place upgrade

If system restore and reset keep failing:

Please let me know if you have questions with the steps or if you are still having trouble along the way. Don’t worry, I am here. We'll get your PC up and running again together.

    Kind regards,

    Adrian A
