After I updated my PC with the windows update stuff I can no longer open newly downloaded games from Steam or Epic Games on my PC, when I tried to download games and then open them all I would get is a black screen, then shortly after the game would close but it would say it was still running in Steam/Epic. (other games that were downloaded before update were able to be played and opened still). When I looked at Task Manager to see if the games were open the Task Manager would freeze and no longer be working with all the CPU/Disc/Network/Memory tabs saying 0%. I've from then tried looking this up and follow many different steps from this post https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/some-games-and-apps-no-longer-working-after/1e5f07e4-6d76-439c-a131-ab02c75f0106

Open Command Prompt and Run it as administrator. Select Yes to make changes on the prompt where it will ask for changes to be made to your PC.

Type this command: DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /RestorehealthThen

press Enter

Wait for the message that says "The operation completed successfully."

Type another command: sfc/scannow

"

It had no effect... I've tried Resetting the PC, Rolling back the PC, verifying the files ect. I was tired of this so i decided to Hard Reset the PC and re-download Windows, after setting everything back up (Steam/Epic/Discord) I downloaded a game called The Headliners and it was able to run fine and the PC worked, about 8 hours later here we are again with the same problem, now when I tried to load the same game it was just a black screen and the Task Manager not working... After a reset I looked at Task Manager and it said CPU was at 100% with system interrupts taking it all, I looked it up and tried to follow the steps from this form https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/system-interrupts-100-cpu/dac6c0ba-dc6a-40d8-85d5-a82eec771f55

"

Press Windows key + i and access Update and Security;Click Check for updates and do ALL pending updates;run a disk cleanup;

Press Windows key + R and type:

cleanmgr press Enter

;Click on clean system files and wait for the files to load;

Select all files and click ok to delete them;

Perform a clean boot;

Press together the keys: Ctrl + Shift + Esc to access the task manager;

Click on start and disable all programs that start with Windows;

Restart the PC and check if the "System Interrupts" process still consumes 100% of the CPU;

"

When I reset the PC System Interrupts was only sitting at 0.1% and never really went up. I tried launch the game again and it did not work. I am at a loss and need some help. I've tried a few other games and they do work (Valheim, Core Keeper, and The Forest), they were games that was previously downloaded before I Hard Reset the PC. So I am now even more at a loss.

I'm not at the PC right now and will edit this form when i can to put the PC info in, I guess any sort of idea is something at this point.

    I think I found out some more information, the pc has 2 gpus gpu 1: amd Radeon (tm) graphics, gpu 2: Amd Radeon RX 7600. And I'm pretty sure whenever the second gpu is being used it bricks the pc and runs poorly, I'm gonna take it to a place near me and have them look at it.

    Hello,

    Thanks for posting to Microsoft Community!

    According to the description, you're experiencing issues with your PC after the recent Windows update. It sounds like you've already tried several troubleshooting steps without success. Since you mentioned that some games work while others don't, it could be related to compatibility issues with the specific games or drivers. Here are a few additional steps we can try:

    • Update your graphics card drivers to the latest version from the manufacturer's website.
    • Check for any pending updates for your games on Steam or Epic Games Launcher.
    • Run the Windows Update Troubleshooter to ensure all updates are installed correctly.
    • Perform a clean boot to see if any third-party software is causing conflicts.
    • Check for any overheating issues that could be affecting performance.

    If the issue persists, please provide me with the PC information when you can so I can assist you further. When everything is resolved, feel free to mark this thread as answer and helpful. Otherwise, please let me know if there's anything else I can help you with.

    Best Regards, Van Johnson | Microsoft Community Moderator
