I updated around 100 workstations, computers of different brands, HP, Dell and Lenovo, all now with version 24H2 26100.4351, and since this update, Windows Search is not working.

    Hi there,

I’m Cherrelyn, an Independent Advisor and I understand how concerning it is when Windows Search fails across multiple systems after a major update like 24H2.

    Here’s what’s likely happening:

This issue seems tied to a recent change in the Windows Web Experience Pack, which powers parts of the search UI. It has caused search to break or stay blank on several devices after the 24H2 update, especially on domain or enterprise setups.

    Recommended Steps:

    1.Restart Windows Search process

-Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc → Task Manager

-End SearchHost.exe and SearchApp.exe (if visible) — they will auto-restart

    2.Reinstall the Web Experience Pack

Open PowerShell as Admin and run:

    Get-AppxPackage MicrosoftWindows.Client.WebExperience | Remove-AppxPackage
    Add-AppxPackage -register "C:\Windows\SystemApps\MicrosoftWindows.Client.WebExperience_cw5n1h2txyewy\AppxManifest.xml" -DisableDevelopmentMode

    3.Enable indexing (if disabled post-update)

Go to: Settings > Privacy & security > Searching Windows

-Ensure indexing is turned on and locations are correctly selected.

4.Check for any recent patches or optional updates under Settings > Windows Update

Microsoft is likely aware, as this appears to be widespread since the 24H2 rollout. If the issue persists, I’d be happy to help escalate this or recommend a temporary workaround (like using Everything or third-party search tools).

Let me know how you'd like to proceed I’m here to help.

    Warmly,

    Cherrelyn
