Desktop icons revert to default size after reboot in Windows 11
I adjusted the scale and text size settings on my Windows 11 PC, expecting the desktop icons to retain their larger size after reboot. However, they revert to their default (smaller) size every time I restart the PC.

2025-06-04T19:50:08+00:00 Hi there, I'm Pau, and I'm an Independent Advisor. Thank you for getting in touch about your Windows 11 PC's desktop icons going back to their original size after restarting. I know how important it is for your display settings to stay the same, and I can help you fix this problem.
Please do the following to make sure that the size of your desktop icons stays the same after you restart your PC:
>> Change the size of the desktop icons by hand: Right-click on the desktop, choose View, and then pick the icon size you want (for example, Large icons).
>> Check the Display Scaling Settings: Right-click on the desktop, go to Display settings, and then Scale and layout. Set the scaling to 100% or a recommended value, and then log out and back in.
>> Change the size of the text without changing the icons
Change the text size by dragging the slider and pressing "Apply." Then restart your computer.
>> Get new graphics drivers
Go to Device Manager, click on Display Adapters, right-click on your adapter, and then click on Update Driver. Choose "Search automatically."
>> Clear Icon Cache, open File Explorer, type %localappdata%\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer into the address bar, and then delete all files that begin with "iconcache." Start up the PC again.
>> Make a New User Profile (to make sure the profile isn't damaged)
Go to Settings > Accounts > Family & other users > Add account > create new user > log in and test how well the icon size stays the same.
>> Check your system files.
Open the Command Prompt (Admin) and type "sfc /scannow." Then press "Enter" and restart your computer when it's done.
If these steps don't fix the problem, it might be a problem with a third-party app or the way your system is set up. If this happens, please let me know so I can help you more.
Appreciate your time. Feel free to get in touch if you have any questions or need more help.
Best regards,
Pau
