Hibernate Enabled but Timed Hibernate Not Working

Thanks for your reply.

I tried all your suggestion. The only change made was #3 - powercfg -restoredefaultschemes (and then putting hibernate back in the shutdown menu).

Now when I set a timeout, the timeout does work and the machine hibernates when it should.

But the timeout still can't be set in the Advanced settings menu. I have to use powercfg /x hibernate-timeout-ac .

Any further ideas, or should we just declare success if not understanding?

BTW re #5: There is no Power troubleshooter under Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters. Is it somewhere else? I am running Windows 11 Pro 24H2 OS build 26100.3775.

If the issue still persists please follow the steps on how to perform repair upgrade.

To do that please download the iso file first. By going to this link: Download Windows 11 and download the media creation tool by clicking the download now below the create windows 11 installation media.

Once media creation tool is downloaded then you must run the tool and accept the license terms and agreements then make sure to download the iso file. Not the option called download to usb.

Thanks for your suggestions.

I see what you mean about HiberFileSizePercent. I set it to a good value with POWERCFG /HIBERNATE /SIZE 50 but that didn't help.

I noticed that HiberFileType was 2. That seemed strange, so I set it to 1 in regedit. That didn't help either.

And making a new user didn't help.

A little googling turned up this command to run in CMD as admin:

REG ADD HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\PowerSettings\238C9FA8-0AAD-41ED-83F4-97BE242C8F20\9d7815a6-7ee4-497e-8888-515a05f02364 /v Attributes /t REG_DWORD /d 2 /f

Thanks for the information.

I checked the registry screenshot you sent. Can you put 1 on the HiberFileSizePercent and put 1 on it. Make sure you back up the registry folder by right clicking the folder then click on export. make sure to restart the pc after putting the change on registry

If it does not work then try to create a new profile by going to Windows settings > accounts > other users > create a new user profile. Select i don't have this persons sign in > add as a local.

Once done just name it and once created. Click the new user profile then add admin.

Next press windows key then click the user name of the current profile then select 3 dots then switch user profile.

Check if the options are showing.
