Hello,
I am having an issue with my mouse cursor since a few days.
The cursor is freezing for a (few) frame(s) before jumping to the expected position. This happens multiple times a second (2-4 times) in precise intervals.
As I see it, this only affects the mouse, I didn't notice any other graphics / audio freezes. The only further issue that could be remotely related is that YouTube is frequently lagging extremly. I would usually discard both as issues with hardware performance, but the hardware did not show any signs of load. Furthermore the mouse issue also happens if no application are running. This problem is consistent across system reboots and applications.
The only way I could manage to stop it, is through booting into secure mode.
Some system specs:
- Windows 10 (newest version)
- Mainboard: B760 Gaming X DDR4
- Intel i5-13600K
- Nvidia RTX 2070
- 32GB DDR4 RAM
- I am using a ROG Chakram X as mouse, but I also tried other devices. Same issue there.
What I tried so far:(might not be an exhaustive list)
- Booted into secure mode -> no issue -> suspecting driver issue, or a problem of a autostart / boot service.
- Did a Clean Boot with no non-microsoft services or autostart applications active -> issue occurred -> suspecting drivers
- Uninstalled Armory Crate (app for the mouse) -> issue persists
- Did a RAM test -> no problem detected
- Analyzed DPCs through LatencyMon -> wdf01000.sys is causing many (hundrets / thousands of) DPCs while moving the mouse, but little while the mouse is static
- Removed all other USB-Devices except keyboard and mouse and restarted -> issue persists
- Updated / reinstalled mouse, keyboard, grafics card and usb controller drivers -> issue persists
- Done analysis with WPA -> couldn't really interpret the results
I'll gladly post the trace-file from WPA and / or an excerpt from the LatencyMon recordings, if requested.
Has anyone experienced similar issued or does anyone have any tips or ideas on resolving this issue (except reinstalling windows)?
Regards, Fabian.
