I have Acer Aspire personal computer that I bought in March 2014. It has Windows 10 Version 22H2 for x64. On April 27, 2025, I installed update KB5057056.

I ran into problems since installing the update. I would see a blank black screen. I would do either the following:

  1. Wait 30 minutes before I use my PIN number to log-in

OR

  1. Press power button to turn off and turn back on to reboot. After typing my PIN number, I wait 25 minutes before I see the desktop screen

I am had it with these routines. What happened? Is it the update? I need to know.

I can't find the KB5057056 in the Installed Updates list. I took a picture of Installed Updates list from my personal computer. Which updates are connected to KB5057056?

    What likely happened:
Yes, based on the timing and your description, the issue seems connected to the KB5057056 update. This kind of behavior (black screen after login, long delays) can happen if the update caused:
A conflict with your graphics driver or startup apps.

    Background processes stalling during login.

System services hanging due to update errors on older hardware.
    Suggested steps to fix it:

    1. Boot into Safe Mode and uninstall the update (as a test):
Hold down the Shift key and click Restart from the power icon on the login screen.

Choose Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings > Restart.

    Select Safe Mode with Networking.

Once logged in, go to Settings > Windows Update > Update History > Uninstall Updates.

Look for KB5057056 and uninstall it. Restart and test.
If your PC starts normally afterward, this confirms the update caused the issue.

    1. Update your display/graphics driver:
Go to Device Manager > Display Adapters, right-click your graphics card (e.g., Intel HD Graphics), and select Update driver.

Choose Search automatically for updated driver software, or visit Acer’s website to download a driver for your model.
Run System File Checker and DISM:
Right-click Start > Windows Terminal (Admin) or Command Prompt (Admin).

Type the following commands one at a time:

    bash
    Copy code
    sfc /scannow
    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
These will scan and repair possible corrupted system files.
Let me know if you need help doing any of these steps. I'm here to assist you — and we’ll do our best to get your PC running smoothly again without that frustrating delay.

    Kind regards,
    Mariejoy V.

    Hi LORIL39,

Thank you for reaching out, and I truly understand how frustrating this must be. Waiting 25–30 minutes just to access your desktop is not normal behavior, and it’s absolutely reasonable for you to expect better performance — especially after an update.
