What likely happened:
Yes, based on the timing and your description, the issue seems connected to the KB5057056 update. This kind of behavior (black screen after login, long delays) can happen if the update caused:
A conflict with your graphics driver or startup apps.
Background processes stalling during login.
System services hanging due to update errors on older hardware.
Suggested steps to fix it:
Choose Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings > Restart.
Select Safe Mode with Networking.
Once logged in, go to Settings > Windows Update > Update History > Uninstall Updates.
Look for KB5057056 and uninstall it. Restart and test.
If your PC starts normally afterward, this confirms the update caused the issue.
Choose Search automatically for updated driver software, or visit Acer’s website to download a driver for your model.
Run System File Checker and DISM:
Right-click Start > Windows Terminal (Admin) or Command Prompt (Admin).
Type the following commands one at a time:
bash
Copy code
sfc /scannow
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
These will scan and repair possible corrupted system files.
Let me know if you need help doing any of these steps. I'm here to assist you — and we’ll do our best to get your PC running smoothly again without that frustrating delay.
Kind regards,
Mariejoy V.
Hi LORIL39,
Thank you for reaching out, and I truly understand how frustrating this must be. Waiting 25–30 minutes just to access your desktop is not normal behavior, and it’s absolutely reasonable for you to expect better performance — especially after an update.
