Hi Aron,
I hope you are doing well!. I'm Jhun, an independent advisor. Sorry to hear you're running into this issue with your NVIDIA GT 820M on Windows 11. I can imagine how annoying it must be to have games crash on your dedicated GPU while the integrated one works. No worries, I believe this solution will help:
Here’s a step-by-step guide to get your GT 820M working with a stable driver:
- Download the latest supported driver for your GT 820M
Go to the official NVIDIA driver search page:
https://www.nvidia.com/Download/Find.aspx
Enter these options:
- Product Type: GeForce
- Product Series: GeForce 800M Series (Notebooks)
- Product: GeForce GT 820M
- Operating System: Windows 10 64-bit
the last Windows 10 driver version usually still works fine on Windows 11 when installed manually.
Download version 471.96 WHQL
- Extract the driver package
- Right-click the downloaded installer and select Extract to "NVIDIA" (you can use 7-Zip if needed)
- This will create a folder with all the driver files.
- Manually install the driver via Device Manager
- Press Windows + X and open Device Manager
- Expand Display Adapters
- Right-click your NVIDIA GeForce GT 820M and select Update driver
- Choose Browse my computer for drivers
- Navigate to the folder where you extracted the driver files
- Follow the prompts to install it manually
Please let me know if this doesn't work, or if you've already tried it, we can try a different method. I’m happy to walk you through it if needed!
Best Regards.
