    Hi Mustafa,

I know how frustrating it can be when your laptop audio suddenly stops working.

Before we dive deeper, I have a quick questions to help me understand your situation better and make sure we fix the right problem:

    1. Have you recently connected any headphones, speaker or audio devices to yout laptop? Sometimes Windows will send sound to a different device and not your built-in speaker.
    2. Did your sound stop working after a Windows update or installing new software? Updates or new installs can sometimes cause driver issues.
    3. When you check Device Manager, do you see your audio device listed under "Sound, video and game controllers", or is missing completely? This helps us know if it's a driver issue or something else.
    4. Have you tried plugging in headphones or external speakers to see if you get any sound that way? This can help us figure out if the issue is with your laptop's speaker or the audio system in general.
    5. Have you already tried any troubleshooting steps, like restarting your laptop or running the Windows audito troubleshooter? If so, let me know what you've tried so far.

Your answers will help me to give you a clear steps to take. If you're not sure about any of these, just let me know and I can guide you through checking.

    Best regards,

    Yve (Independent Advisor)

    Hi Yve,

Thank you for responding and listing all possible issues. I will respond to each one.

    1. I continuously use headphones and it is normal but yesterday after disconnecting the headphones, the sound completely went off.
    2. The Windows Update: No I didn't update windows for the last week and no update is pending so definitely thi is not the reason.
    3. In Device Manager > Sound, video and game controllers, Drivers are listed such as Intel Smart Sound Technical for Bluetooth, Digital Microphone and USB Audio, NVIDIA High Definition Audio, NVIDIA Virtual Audio Device, and Realtek(R) Audio. Also, In Device Manager > Audio inputs and outputs, I can only see Microphone Array and no speaker related output.
    4. I can hear the sound after plugging in the headphones. Audio System might be fine.
    5. Troubleshooting is done but it is not able to fix the problem.

Thank you for your response and clarifying. Please help to resolve this.

Thanks for the update, super helpful! Since your headphones are working but your laptop speaker don't show up as an output device, that tells us your system isn't detecting the built-in speakers properly. Let's try a few things to fix this:

    1. Show Hidden Device in Device Manager

Sometime the speaker device is hidden.

    • Right-click the Start button and choose Device Manager
    • Expand both Sound, video and game controllers and Audio inputs and outputs
    • If you see any greyed-out or disabled speaker options, right-click and choose Enable device
    1. Uninstall hidden or duplicate devices

This clears out anything old that could be getting in the way.

    • In Device Manager, right-click any greyed-out or duplicate audio device
    • Choose Uninstall device
    • Once done, restart your laptop and see if the speakers show up
    1. Scan your system for broken files

Let's make sure Windows itself isn't the problem

    • In the search bar, type cmd
    • Right-click Command Prompt and select Run as administrator
    • Wait for it to finish. If it finds anything wrong, it'll try to fix it for you
    1. Check if audio services are running

These services control sound behind the scenes.

    • Press Windows key + R, type services.msc, and press Enter
    • Look for Windows Audio and Windows Audio Endpoint Builder
    • Make sure they both say "Running"
    • If not, right-click and choose Start
    • If they are running, try reinstalling them (right-click > Restart)

Give these steps a try and let me know how it turns out.

And just in case we need to reinstall the audio driver or check BIOS settings next, could you let me know your laptop's brand and model? That will help me guide you better if we need to go further.

Looking forward to hearing back from you.
