The Date of birth on my microsoft account is wrong and with a new laptop it insists I am under 13 and need parental permission to use. I am in my 20! I can access my account profile and can see the problem but I cannot edit the page . It is not a family account so there is no-one who can be my 'parent or guardian' to give permission and make a change. I have tried Microsoft support twice to no avail. If I cancel my microsoft account so that I can create a new one I will lose my 365 subscription. Support has been no help. What do I do as I shall be unable to skip and not be able to sign in at all very soon ?? and i have tried using family safety account but i cannot do so either in it. nothing s working as such. please help as i need to access certain sites for my studies. or at least to verify age you can ask for prove and change it yourself.

Hello Disha_125! Thank you so much for reaching out, I am Harvie an independent advisor, and I am glad to assist you today with this issue.

Since you are clearly not under 13 but your account DOB is set to 0 or something incorrect and Microsoft’s automated system is locking you into child restrictions here's some guide tailored to your issue:

    1. Check if you are really blocked from editing DOB
    • Go to https://account.microsoft.com/profile and try to edit your Date of Birth here.
    • If the DOB section is grayed out or says you need parental permission it confirms the account is flagged as a child.
    • You will need to promote it out of child status or get Microsoft to assist with proof of age.
    1. Use the Parental Consent Bypass with a Temporary Adult Account
    • Go to https://account.microsoft.com/family
    • Sign in with the new temporary adult Microsoft account.
    • Click Add a family member
    • Choose Child enter the email of your actual account and send invite.
    • Now log in to your main account the one with the wrong DOB accept the invitation.
    • Go back to the adult account → Family page and approve the child then from there you may get the option to correct the birthdate or allow full access.
    1. Use the Microsoft Age Verification Form
    • Go to

    1. Use the Microsoft Age Verification Form
    • Go to https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/account-bil...
    • You will need to upload a clear photo or scan of a government issued ID like passport or national ID showing your name and date of birth.
    • Microsoft will then manually unlock your account by correcting the birthdate in their system.
    • The response can take up to 24 to 48 hours but is often the only way to bypass the underage lock.
    1. If you still can’t access the verification
    • Try in Incognito Mode or a different browser.
    • If it says this service isn’t available in your region try using a VPN set to USA or UK then retry the verification link.

Please try these steps and let me know how it goes. If you run into any issues just reply back with the details.

    Best regards,

    Harry

    Hi Disha,

How does an idea of creating a new Microsoft account as an organizer, adding this account as a family member of the new group so that you can change the DOB, sound?
