    Hello,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

Here's a script of steps you can follow to optimize your PC for better performance:

    • Disable unnecessary startup programs  Go to [Task Manager > Startup] and disable any applications that are not essential for daily use.
    • Adjust performance settings  Right-click on [This PC], select [Properties > Advanced system settings > Settings] under the Performance section, and choose "Adjust for best performance." You can also customize which visual effects to disable.
    • Turn off background apps  Navigate to [Settings > Privacy > Background apps], and toggle off apps that you don’t need running in the background.
    • Free up disk space  Run Disk Cleanup by going to [Search > type "Disk Cleanup"]. Select the drive you want to clean, choose the files to delete, and confirm.
    • Defragment your hard drive  If you're using a traditional HDD, go to [Search > type "Defragment and Optimize Drives"], and select your hard drive to optimize.
    • Run System File Checker  Open Command Prompt as an administrator and run sfc /scannow. Let it complete and restart your PC.
    • Disable SysMain service  If you suspect heavy disk usage causing lag, open Command Prompt as an administrator and run sc stop SysMain. To permanently disable it, go to [Services > SysMain > Properties], and set the startup type to "Disabled."
    • Ensure Windows Updates are installed  Go to [Settings > Windows Update], and make sure your system is running the latest updates.

For your convenience I have written direction steps inside square brackets and Command Prompt commands in Italics.Note: Before making any changes, create a backup or restore point to safeguard your data. Additionally, verify a stable internet connection for updates.Postscript: Hope these steps help boost your Windows 10's performance! Good luck speeding things up!
