Windows 11 blurry text issues.

hey all I've been facing some issues with my display and text, mostly seems my text with it looking kind of fuzzy/blurry to the eye? I'll post some examples below from Stardew valley, and a game i play called old school RuneScape, ill attach another photo showing what i mean below. but every since a recent driver update it's completely changed my display and font? it's hard to explain what I'm experiencing. but from my eye the text looks slightly stretched and fuzzy.

things I've tired so far:

adjust ClearType

DIP settings (try to change high DPI settings + high dpi scaling overside (system enhanced) etc

Display Settings are scale 100% (even tho it tells me 125% recommended, it seems very zoomed it, so i stick to 100)

display resolution is 1920x1080. 165HZ monitor and second monitor is 60hz if that helps.

updated BIOS and roll back the latest Nvidia driver update.

thank you

    Hey

I did the following steps and the settings are as you said, and monitor stayed on also.

You don’t think I’m having theses issues where my windows is recommend my scale 125% but it’s way too zoomed in for me? so I change it to 100% which may be leading it to be a little blurry? The biggest issue I’m facing is the white text looks very sharp and somewhat pixelated, and that’s not down to brightness or anything else.

    Thanks

    Still no improvement unfortunately.

It’s looking like a factory reset isn’t it?

Unless you have anymore ideas? because I’m out of ideas and options now.

    Thank you

    Hi Danny,

Search SETTINGS > DISPLAY > it should be just under Scale and Layout (advance scaling settings)

Yes, FXAA can affect as well, try to enable FXAA and check.

    keep me updated on this

    Regards,

    Iggy

Hey Iggy, thank you for the reply

i've followed what you said, but i couldn't find step 2 settings, are you sure they aren't under anything else?

same issue still applies unfortunately, i saw you said this common is issue but is it fixable? or is this a issue ill have to persist with unless i factory reset my pc? which i really don't wanna do. anything else i can try?

nothing in nvidia control panel could help the issue? thats the last thing i can think of. my FXAA is off which i know can sometimes add a sharpness or whatever.

    thanks alot

    Hi Danny,

Thank you so much for reaching out. I am Iggy, an independent advisor, and glad to assist you today with this issue.

I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing blurry or fuzzy text issues on Windows 11, particularly after a recent driver update. This problem is common, especially with high-refresh-rate monitors and dual-display setups. Since you've already tried adjusting ClearType, DPI settings, and display scaling, here are some additional steps you can take to resolve the issue. (I considered the steps you did already but no harm if we can check it again)

    Additional Troubleshooting Steps

    1. Override High DPI Scaling Behavior for Specific Applications

Some applications, especially older ones, may not handle high DPI settings well. To adjust this:

    1. Right-click on the application's shortcut or executable file.
    2. Select Properties.
    3. Navigate to the Compatibility tab.
    4. Click on Change high DPI settings.
    5. Under High DPI scaling override, check the box for Override high DPI scaling behavior.
    6. From the drop-down menu, select System (Enhanced).
    7. Click OK, then Apply.

This setting allows Windows to manage the scaling, which can improve text clarity in certain applications.

    1. Enable 'Let Windows Try to Fix Apps So They're Not Blurry'

Windows has a built-in feature to automatically fix blurry apps:

    1. Go to Settings > System > Display.
    2. Scroll down and click on Advanced scaling settings.
    3. Toggle on Let Windows try to fix apps so they’re not blurry.

This can help with applications that appear blurry due to display settings.

    360-Reader

    1. Adjust Monitor Scaling Individually

Since you're using dual monitors with different refresh rates, it's possible that Windows is applying inconsistent scaling:

    1. Go to Settings > System > Display.
    2. Select each monitor individually.
    3. Under Scale and layout, ensure both monitors are set to the same scaling percentage (e.g., 100%).

Having different scaling settings can cause text and UI elements to appear blurry on one of the monitors.

    1. Check Monitor Refresh Rates and Resolution

Ensure that both monitors are set to their native resolutions and appropriate refresh rates:

    1. Go to Settings > System > Display.
    2. Click on Advanced display settings.
    3. For each monitor, verify that the Display resolution matches the monitor's native resolution (e.g., 1920x1080).

Ensure the Refresh rate is set correctly (e.g., 165Hz for your primary monitor and 60Hz for the secondary).

Mismatched settings can lead to display issues, including blurry text.

Let me know what happened after completing the steps above so I can further assist you.

    Regards,

    Iggy
