Hello there, My name is Pau and I'm an Independent Advisor. I know how hard it is to have to deal with mute audio every time you wake up your laptop, and I'll help you fix it today.
Here are some easy steps to fix both the HDMI audio muting problem and the problem with your volume keys.
You can fix the HDMI audio muting on wake or unlock
- Turn off Fast Startup
Open the Control Panel and click on Power Options. Pick what to do with the power buttons.
Click > Change settings that can't be changed right now
Uncheck > Quick Start should be on > Click on Save Changes.
Start up your computer again.
- Make HDMI Audio the main device
Go to Control Panel, then Sound, then Playback. Right-click on HDMI Output, then click Set as Default Device. Click > OK
- In Sound Settings, turn off Auto Enhancements
Click on Control Panel, then Sound, and then Playback.
Click on HDMI Output. Press > Properties
Click on the "Enhancements" or "Advanced" tab.
Uncheck > If available, turn on audio enhancements > Click > OK
- Put in the HDMI audio driver again
Click "Start," then "Device Manager," and then "Sound, video, and game controllers."
When you right-click on a display audio or HDMI device, you can choose to uninstall it.
Check > If the driver software is shown, delete it. Start up your computer again.
It will be reinstalled automatically by Windows.
- Get the latest graphics and display drivers from HP
Go to HP Support and search for your laptop model. Then, click on Download. The newest graphics driver
Set up > Start up your computer again.
This makes sure that HDMI audio always works.
