Update to 11 when I already have 11?

I have an HP Z Powerbook 13th Gen 1-7 64GB with 11 Pro 23H2 OS Build 22631.5189. It has been a brick since day one. HP says things are an MS issue, MS of course states the issues are HP related. Anyhow... keep getting a pop-up now that states I need to install updates, however, when I try to install updates, I am getting an error message that says I need to update to Windows 11. As previously stated; the brick came with 11 Pro, pre-installed. So, how do I install the updates? Tried to do a repair, but it just goes into a loop of do this, do that, oh! You need to install Windows 11. Is Linux a better option?

Hi John,

Thanks for reaching out Microsoft Community Forum. I totally understand your concern about getting the same update reminder. Allow me to assist.

Please follow these steps on what you can do next:

► Use the Update Troubleshooter

• Go to Settings

• Then System

• Select Troubleshoot

• Then Other troubleshooters

• Next to Windows Update

• Click Run

• Let it scan and fix problems

► Use the Windows 11 Installation Assistant

• Go to:

https://www.microsoft.com/software-download/win...

• Click Installation Assistant

• Then download and run

• This will try to fix your Windows 11

• Without deleting anything

► Do a Repair Install (keep your files)

• On the same page

• Scroll down

• And download the ISO file

• Open and run setup.exe

• Choose Keep files and apps

• This is like reinstalling Windows 11 to fix any issues

• Without losing your stuff

I hope this helps and works for you.

Best Regards,
