Hi Roland Port
Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.
I understand your frustration with the keyboard language layout issue on your Windows 11 laptop. To address this problem, you can try the following steps:
Disable Automatic Language Switching
Go to Settings > Time & Language > Typing > Advanced keyboard settings.
Under Override for default input method, make sure it is set to Portuguese.
Uncheck Let me use a different input method for each app window to prevent automatic switching.
Check Language Preferences in Word
Open Microsoft Word and go to File > Options > Language.
Ensure that Portuguese is set as the default editing language.
If English is listed, remove it or set Portuguese as the primary language.
Check Spell Check Settings
In Word, go to File > Options > Proofing.
Make sure Check spelling as you type is enabled.
Click Custom Dictionaries and ensure the correct dictionary is selected.
Remove Unwanted Keyboard Layouts
Go to Settings > Time & Language > Language & Region.
Under Preferred languages, remove English if you don’t need it.
Click on Portuguese, then Keyboard options, and remove any unwanted layouts.
Check Windows Update
Sometimes, updates can cause unexpected behavior. Go to Settings > Windows Update and check if there are any pending updates.
Perform Repair in-place upgrade: This will reinstall your Operating System and will keep your files and apps. This will take some time depending on the computer performance and internet speed. You can follow the steps from this link: How to perform repair upgrade in Windows 11 - Microsoft Community. Please take note that this article is in English.
Please let me know if this helps.
