Hello,

Today I installed the "Security Intelligence Update for Microsoft Defender Antivirus - KB2267602 (Version 1.427.772.0)" on the Current Channel (General).

After rebooting my system (Windows 10 Home, Version 22H2, Build 19045.5737), I noticed an issue:

When attempting to play Macromedia Shockwave Player movies that contain embedded Flash (SWF) objects, the Plugin-Container of Basilisk (version 20250422154345.win32) crashes upon loading the movie.

The used Shockwave Plugin: Adobe Shockwave for Director Netscape plug-in, version 12.3.5.205

This problem didn't happend before the update.

I would really appreciate any help!

    Hey Bench,

    Thanks for your reply.

Unfortunately is the Shockwave Player since April 9, 2019 out of support, so there will be no way to get any help from Adobe about this product.
There are not much browsers left which do support the NPAPI plugins anymore only Pale Moon and Basilisk which both share the same codebase.

Maybe it would be better when I try to get in touch with the browser developers.

    Hi ShockwaveFan,

    Thank you for your Reply.

It seems that when the update from Windows comes through it seems that there is an incompatibility with the app that you are using. Can you try to get in touch with the App's support team and ask them if there are any updates for the apps.

Let me know how it goes,

    Hey Bench,

the problem is still happening, clearing browser cache / installing the latest updates didn't help much.

I'm currently not sure where I should begin debug this problem.

When the plugin-container.exe of the basilisk browser is crashing, it creates a event log entry:
Faulting application name: Plugin-Container.exe, version: 6.7.0.9249, time stamp: 0x680f7ba5 Faulting module name: IML32X.dll, version: 10.4.1.54, time stamp: 0x5afac2eb Exception code: 0xc0000005 Error offset: 0x0000a481 Faulting process ID: 0x22cc Faulting application start time: 0x01dbc72e92d49880 Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Basilisk\plugin-container.exe Faulting module path: C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Shockwave 10\IML32X.dll Report ID: 5e0d61b2-b37f-45c8-aef6-bb8f89d7b221 Full name of the faulty package: Application ID relative to the faulty package:

    Hi ShockwaveFan,

Thank you for Posting in Microsoft Community

I understand the issue you are facing with Shockwave Player crashing after installing the KB2267602 update. To address this problem, you can try the following steps:

    1. Update Shockwave Player: Make sure you have the latest version of Shockwave Player installed on your system. You can download and install the latest version from the official Adobe website.
    2. Clear browser cache: Clearing the cache and cookies in your web browser can sometimes resolve plugin-related issues. You can do this in the settings of your web browser.
    3. Check for Windows updates: Sometimes, installing the latest Windows updates can also help resolve compatibility issues. Check for any pending updates and install them.

Let me know how it goes,

    Best Regards,
