Media Player keyboard shortcuts stop working

Summary of the Problem: After booting my system, the keyboard initially works fine, but stops responding a few minutes later. I suspect a media-related application may be interfering, but I’m not certain.

Error Message: No specific error message appears when the keys stop functioning.

System Information: (Please fill this in — for example, mention your operating system, version, any recent updates, keyboard model, etc.)

What I’ve Tried So Far: I haven’t pinpointed the exact cause yet, but I suspect a media app might be hijacking or taking control of the keyboard. I'm looking for effective ways to troubleshoot or confirm this behavior.

    Hi Rayan,

I totally understand your concern on your keyboard stop working with no error message.

Media keys may not respond due to conflict from a background app or a driver issue. Let me help walk you to the simple steps to fix and find cause of this problem:

    ► Restart Windows Explorer

This refreshes your desktop and keyboard functions.

    • To open Task Manager

    • Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc

    • Find Windows Explorer

    • Right click it

    • Then click Restart

    • And test your media keys again

► Check if another app is causing the issue

    Start in Clean Boot Mode:

    • Press Windows + R

    • Then type: msconfig

    • Then press Enter

    • Go to Services tab

→ Check Hide all Microsoft services

    → Click Disable all

    • Go to Startup tab

    • Then open Task Manager

    • Disable all startup apps

    • Restart PC

    • And test the keyboard

► Update or Reinstall the Keyboard Driver

    • Press Windows + X

    • Then click Device Manager

    • Expand Keyboards

    • Right click

    • Then click Update driver

    • Or choose Uninstall

    • Then restart the PC

► Turn Off background apps that use Media Keys

    • Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc

    • Go to Startup tab

    • Disable apps like

Spotify, iTunes, VLC, Logitech, Razer, Corsair tools

    • Restart your PC

    ► Check for Updates

    • Go to Settings

    • Windows Update

    • Install any updates

    • Check if your media app is updated

I hope this helps and works for you.

    Best Regards,
