Trying to pair Steelseries 7+ Headset to my PC, but it's listed in "other" instead of "audio" in the settings and not working. Help?

I've had a Steelseries 7+ Headset for years that came with the ps5 bundle I bought. I just recently finally bought a pc and am trying to connect this headset to it because it's been really good and I don't want to have to search for a new and good headset. I don't know where most of the cords are that it came with (cords to connect it to xbox, mobile, etc.) I have a personal usb-c cord for charging but other than that nothing. Is there anyone who can help me understand where I'm going wrong or if I need to go buy a certain cord or something. It's supposed to be a wireless headset so I don't think I need to buy another cord, but if so I will.

Right, Coley, they do look similar, but it depends on the model you have. Have you checked the box or your purchase receipt to confirm which Arctis version it is?

Is this the same dongle as the one you recommended? It looks the exact same and it’s the one that I think is designed for ps5

It sounds like the dongle you have is designed specifically for the PS5, which might explain why it's not working properly on your PC. For the SteelSeries Arctis 7+, you need the Arctis 7+ USB-C Wireless Dongle, which is the official replacement transmitter for this headset.

You can find the official SteelSeries replacement dongle on their website here > https://steelseries.com/gaming-accessories/arct...

Let me know if you have further questions.

    Thanks!

Thanks for the help but I'm still having trouble. I plugged the dongle in and it went in weird (I don’t think it was made for usb it was made for a specific hole on the ps5). And on the pc it said like the dongle was needing too much power than it could give. So I think I just don’t have the right usb wireless transmitter.

Do u know what transmitter I need amd where to find it?

Hello Coley, thanks for reaching out. I'm Ace, one of the Independent Advisors. I can understand your concern and please don't worry I am here to help you.

Your SteelSeries 7+ headset showing up under "Other" instead of "Audio" in Windows settings suggests that the system is not recognizing it as an audio device. This issue is often caused by missing drivers, incorrect pairing, or the absence of the required USB wireless transmitter. Since your headset was originally bundled with a PS5, it may require the USB dongle to function properly on a PC. Without it, Windows may detect the headset as a generic device rather than an audio peripheral. If you are using a USB-C cable, it is likely only charging the headset rather than transmitting audio. The Arctis 7+ requires the USB wireless transmitter for full functionality on a PC. To resolve this, ensure that the transmitter is connected to a USB port, turn on the headset, and check if it appears under Sound, video and game controllers in Device Manager. If it still appears under "Other Devices," updating or reinstalling the drivers may help. You can find official setup instructions on this link > https://support.steelseries.com/hc/en-us/articl...
